The Grinch and Ebenezer Scrooge are not the only two people who hate Christmas with a passion. While the world goes in its merry way to celebrate Santa Claus and his minions with Mariah Carey defrosting in the background with her signature “I don’t want a lot for Christmas,” there are many Hollywood celebrities for whom the whole ordeal is not as festive as the rest of the people.

From Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus to Larry David, here are five stars who could not care less for the festive occasion.

1) Lady Gaga

The Born This Way singer truly left everyone with a Poker Face when she declared she hates Christmas. This is especially surprising since she is a practicing Christian and has many references to Christian imagery in her songs. The 13-time Grammy Award winner’s main issue with the festival is that she feels terribly lonely during this time of the year.

In a fancam video uploaded by the YouTube channel TotallyGagaOfficial, she is seen biting off the head of a Santa Claus doll and screaming:

“I hate the holidays. I’m alone and miserable you f – – king stuffed little toy.”

She then proceeded to stomp on the toy with her iconic stilettos. However, her lonely days are probably over now, as she has been dating entrepreneur Michael Polansky since 2020.

2) Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is not a big fan of Christmas and she even has a song called My Sad Christmas Song to further prove her point. She spilled the tea, saying that usually Christmas ends with her family rowing at each other and it makes her miserable. According to her, Christmas often ends in “fistfights, and usually with each one of us removing ourselves and slamming the door in some way and a lot of apology texts. I mean we’re all kind of conspiracy theorists and I remember one year we got onto the topic of, like, aliens and it ended with my brothers not talking for a week and my mom crying.”

In 2019, when she released My Sad Christmas Song, she took to X (formerly Twitter) to say:

“A sad Christmas song I wrote a few years back right before the holidays. Was feeling like s – – t cause I couldn’t be with the one I loved. Even with a house full of family and friends I still felt alone. In ways that still feels relevant and someone reading this right now could possibly relate!”

In a now-deleted Instagram post from 2016, she also opened up about why Christmas makes her sad and posted a caption:

“Call me the Grinch but Christmas always makes me feel deeply sad. It is filled with so much excessiveness & greed…I just hope everyone gives the gift of love and acceptance this year to not only their own family but those around the globe who don’t get everything they wished for due to life’s unfair circumstances.”

She then added:

“My parents always made Christmas about others and I hope you find it in your heart to do the same! @HappyHippieFdn is what I am most thankful for this year because of the purpose it gives me. Without it I would feel so lost and useless on this planet! Thank you to all those who support our mission and I hope everyone has a magically merry whatever you celebrate! #CelebrateLoveEveryday.”

One can only hope she gets to embrace the festive spirit one day, like many others.

3) Larry David

Larry David is practically telling people to Curb Your Enthusiasm when it comes to Christmas. In a December 2021 Air Mail essay titled A Very Larry David Christmas, he opened up by saying-

“I detest all holidays, but none as much as Christmas. There’s the loathsome music. The movies with their ridiculous, treacly sentiments. The presents -thinking about them, shopping for them (never without resentment), and the attendant pile of garbage that accumulates from opening them, an environmental disaster simultaneously taking place in living rooms across the country.”

According to him, he is a creature of habit and Christmas disrupts his routine with its festive spirit.

4) Ozzy Osbourne

The Black Sabbath singer cannot hide his contempt for Christmas and it is mainly due to the blatant consumerism behind it. He opened up to Express at the time about his inherent hatred for the Christmas spirit:

“I have to unravel all these f–king presents. What a f–king waste of paper. I f–king hate Christmas. I f–king hate it. Everything stops. When I used to drink, it was a good excuse to get f–ked. Now, I just hate it.”

He even told Loudersound that he would rather work through Christmas than participate in the festivities.

5) Colin Firth

American heartthrob Colin Firth actually disdains Christmas in real life. He even admitted being like the Dickensian Scrooge during this time to the Daily Mail in 2009:

“I have a profound loathing of Christmas — it’s sad really. At this time of year, I am careful not to switch on the radio because those novelty jingles make me homicidal and plunge me into the heart of Scrooge territory. I think Christmas turns us all into Scrooge. Everyone is trying to throw happy stuff at you, and that’s when I come over all humbug. I think ‘A Christmas Carol’ is the best seasonal story you’ll find, because after its darkness, fear and regret, you’re ready for a bit of joy by the end.”

It is especially sad since he stole hearts when he starred in the biggest holiday movie in Hollywood, Love Actually. However, given what he has said, he does not seem to be in the mood to enjoy the holiday spirit anytime soon.

They would probably go on the naughty list of Santa for their disdain for the festive spirit. However, given what they have done or said about Christmas, they can barely be bothered about it.
