“She should be in Playboy!”: Margot Robbie Was Humiliated By Hugh Hefner, Didn’t Even Bother To Know Her Name Despite Wanting Her To Get Naked For Magazine
Over the years, actress Margot Robbie has established herself as one of the best actresses of this generation. With appearing in hits like Suicide Squad, The Wolf of Wall Street, and I, Tonya, there is no doubt that the actress is currently at her peak. The actress became a household name after she played Naomi Lapaglia in The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). In the movie, the actress was required to do multiple nude scenes that caught the attention of Hugh Hefner, the founder and editor-in-chief of Playboy magazine. The publisher went to watch the movie and instantly wanted the actress to do a photo shoot for his magazine. However, Margot Robbie refused.
Margot Robbie had to undress for several scenes in The Wolf of Wall Street
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) was a major hit and it proved to be a good decision for Margot Robbie, as the actress gained a lot of popularity thanks to her role as Naomi Lapaglia, Jordan Belfort’s wife. Some scenes in the movie required the actress to get undressed and she reportedly had to take a tequila shot before filming to calm herself.
According to her, it was so “intimidating” to undress in front of Leonardo DiCaprio and the crew. It was her first time, and she agreed to do it because she felt that the nudity was necessary to portray Naomi, a woman whose “body is her only form of currency in this world.”
Hugh Hefner wanted the actress to appear in Playboy Magazine
The scenes caught the attention of Hugh Hefner, the founder, and editor-in-chief of Playboy magazine. The man who started Playboy Magazine back in 1953, went to watch the movie and wanted Margot Robbie to do a photo shoot for his Playboy Magazine. After watching the movie, Hugh Hefner said, “She should be in Playboy! Send her a message! We’re ready for her. She would be great.” The publisher did not know her name so he addressed her as “Jordan Belfort’s wife.”
While many were offended that the publisher saw her as a s*x symbol and didn’t even bother to find out her name before sending an offer, this was not the reason why Margot Robbie rejected the offer.
Margot Robbie declined to work with Playboy Magazine
The Barbie star then cleared out that she will never appear in a Playboy Magazine as she felt she had “put her family through enough.” While the actress doesn’t regret the nude scenes in the movie, she explained that she can never watch the movie with her parents.
It made sense why she declined the offer as she was a rising star at the time. The movie became a turning point in her career and she had plenty of offers, so declining Hugh Hefner’s offer was not a big deal for her.
