Emily Blunt confessed she’d be worried if Meghan Markle shows up at auditions
In 2021, during a lie detector interview with Vanity Fair, actress Emily Blunt was asked if she was interested in knowing about the happenings of the British Royal Family, to which she said that she was somewhat. The host asked the actress if she was worried about encountering Meghan Markle in auditions, especially as she, along with her husband, announced that they would be stepping down from their role as senior members of the royal family and would balance time between the UK and North America.
Emily answered, “Who wouldn’t, right? She’s a knockout. We were just talking this morning about how beautiful she was and cool. Yeah, I’d be worried.”
Meghan Markle played Rachel Zane on the American TV legal drama Suits opposite Patrick J. Adams for seven seasons before she decided to make her exit amid her engagement with Prince Harry and following the Royal Wedding in 2018. Emily Blunt described The Devil Wears Prada as an overnight shift in her life
During an episode of Variety’s Actors on Actors, appearing alongside Brian Cox from Succession, the actress talked about one of her famous movies; The Devil Wears Prada, in which she appeared alongside Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep.
She said, “The Devil Wears Prada! It was just an extraordinary overnight shift in my life when that came out.” She went into detail about how it felt like to work alongside Meryl Streep, as she stated,
“She’s amazing and was slightly terrifying in that film. She said it was one of the first times she’d tried Method acting. But it made her so miserable, playing Miranda.”
When Brian Cox said to her that he told Meryl Streep that he didn’t like her because he was jealous of her being good, Blunt said that she felt the same way about him. She added,“You do keep us guessing, from that caustic, fiery writer in Adaptation, and then what you did with Abbott in Bourne Supremacy. You just feel this sense of foreboding.”
Talking about the method acting part, Cox said,
“What’s important is really what’s underneath. There’s this whole debate about method acting and all that. I’m all for whatever gets you through the day. But the great thing is how you transmit energy. If you hit it right, it just works. That’s the most important thing that we have as actors, that ability to go into something very quickly and come out of it. Not to dwell.”
Emily Blunt on taking a break from acting to spend time with kids
In July, the actress who was seen in Oppenheimer appeared on iHeart’s Table For Two with Bruce Bozzi podcast and she is now looking to have some downtime to focus on her family. She said,
“This year, I’m not working. I worked quite a bit last year and my oldest baby is 9, so we’re in the last year of single digits. And I just feel [like] there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little. And it’s, ‘Will you wake me up? Will you take me to school? Will you pick me up? Will you put me to bed?’ And I just need to be there for all of them for a good stretch. And I just felt that in my bones.”
Emily Blunt said that there was a great emotional cost to her and the kids when she took up a time-consuming project and she felt guilty about it. The actress added that she feels that maybe all mothers feel the same way.
At the same time, she also clarified that she is a huge advocate for women being ambitious, adding that it’s just dreams with purpose and it’s not an ugly word.
