The 2011 premiere of the Aaron Korsh-created and -written American legal drama series Suits, which stars Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Meghan Markle, Rick Hoffman, etc., is still regarded as one of the best television programs ever made. The audience responded quite well to the incredibly brilliant cast of the play, which is why die-hard fans continue to return to it for a taste of the corporate law world.

The final season of Suits, which debuted in 2019, saw a significant increase in viewership thanks in large part to the return of Meghan Markle, who had left the series in 2017 ahead of her 2018 Royal Wedding to Prince Harry. According to a recent revelation, the show has broken its record. Let’s find out more.

Suits holds the title of the first show to cross 3 billion minutes watched in seven weeks

The American legal drama starring Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Meghan Markle, etc., debuted on Netflix and Peacock eight weeks ago and, according to reports by Variety, the show which has now been watched for over 26.5 billion minutes, has now broken records.

Variety reports that the show that debuted on the streaming platform eight weeks ago now holds the record for the first-ever show to cross 3 billion minutes watched for seven weeks in a row. Even though Stranger Things still holds the record for the highest viewing show in eight weeks with a record of 35.5 billion minutes.

Suits, which premiered its last season in 2019 garnered attention once again earlier this summer and now ranks at number 13 on Nielsen’s highest-rated shows of all time based on weekly viewing figures, following the likes of shows including Stranger Things, Ozark, Wednesday, and Tiger King.

Reports suggested that the show once again gained popularity after the existing fans rediscovered the show on the streaming platform and went back to watching the fast-paced legal drama along with new fans joining them. Henry Cavill’s The Witcher 3 stands in third spot with 1.2 billion minutes viewed with Lincoln Lawyer season 2 acquiring second spot with 1.4 billion minutes viewed.

Is Suits revival in the talks?

The recent success and once again being at the top of the list of fans’ favorite show to watch, Suits, has gained attention. Talks about the revival of the show have also started to circle the industry. But the executive producer of the show, Gene Klein, had some thoughts to share on the same.

In an interview with TVLine, he said,

“It was a complicated dance, keeping everybody involved, getting all the actors’ deals done and keeping them involved through the end of the show. I’d be surprised if we could thread that needle for a reunion, but I’d also be delighted if that happened because [when] you do a show for that long, everybody becomes such a good friend.”

He further added,

“I’ve mentioned to Aaron Korsh that I keep, in this era of reboots and reunions and all this other stuff, that I’m expecting a call at some point. But I’m not aware of any serious conversations. It’s just one of those things which, in this day and age, you wouldn’t be surprised if somebody called you someday. But so far, nothing that I’m aware of.”

Creator Aaron Korsh was also asked about the reboot of the show during a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter in August 2023, in which he said that he might consider whether the cast was interested. He said,

“So, again, if someone reached out and the cast was into it, I would consider it, if I could come up with something that excited me.”

Patrick J. Adams gives a nod to Meghan Markle after a resurgence of the show

Patrick J. Adams, who appeared as Mike Ross on the show alongside Meghan Markle who appeared as Rachel Zane, recently changed his Instagram bio to “The guy from that show you’re watching on that app because that girl married that prince.”

The actors played love interests on the show for nine seasons and are great friends, as the actor attended the wedding of Meghan Markle with Prince Harry in 2018. Back in 2020, as mentioned by People Magazine, Adams during a conversation with Radio Times shared that he is intimidated to call his former co-star.

He said, “I have no doubt I could pick up the phone and call her at any moment, but I don’t know what I would say. After our children were born, there were some texts sent and gifts sent, but I guess I’m a little scared.”

He added that it’s pure fear and he is afraid of the idea of breaking through whatever walls exist to have that conversation with his former co-star.

All 9 seasons of Suits are available to watch on Netflix.
