SUMMARY
  • Skeleton Crew is the latest entry in the Star Wars franchise and has been welcomed warmly.
  • A scene featuring a female Jedi master never made it to the final version of the show.
  • Fans are rallying for a spin-off show based on the character of this Jedi master.

Skeleton Crew is the most recent addition to the beloved decades-old Star Wars franchise. Luckily, fans and critics have had positive reactions to this show, unlike The Acolyte which had to be canceled after just one season due to the immense backlash that it faced from the audience.

Recently, an actress revealed that she was a part of the cast and had scenes in the show that did not make it to the final cut. Now that fans have learned about this, they have come up with ideas for spin-offs to explore the character further.

For those unversed, Skeleton Crew, created by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, is a coming-of-age story set in the Star Wars universe and in the same time frame as The Mandalorian. It follows the story of four kids who find out something about their home planet and get lost in the galaxy. As they try to figure out their way back home, they become friends with a Force-user and pirate captain, Jod Na Wood (Jude Law).

Actress Yasmine Al Massri recently gave fans a glimpse behind the scenes of her time as a Jedi that unfortunately didn’t make it into the final version of the show. She posted pictures of herself in the Jedi outfit on Instagram and seemed to be very happy about what she had achieved. After all, it is not every day that someone gets to be a part of this huge franchise.

Massri also stated that the crew even thanked her for portraying the first female Arab Jedi in Star Wars. Here is what she wrote in the caption:

This was the shortest acting job I have done but the most meaningful to the child in me.. playing a Jedi for one scene in Skeleton Crew.. I gave a speech when the crew wrapped me on set saying : you just created the first Arab female Jedi.. thank you.. the scene unfortunately Didn’t make it to the finale cut bc these things happen..

Massri was born in Lebanon and is the daughter of a Palestinian refugee father and Egyptian mother. So, her role in this show definitely means a lot to all those who come from a similar background.

Fans are hopeful that Yasmine Al Massri’s character will get a spin-off show

Although Massri’s role is not exactly specified, one thing that can be concluded from her braid in the picture is that she was a padawan. There is also a good chance that she had something to do with Jod Na Wood’s past as it was revealed that he was once taught the ways of the Force.

There is no lack of original stories or spin-offs in the Star Wars franchise and fans are usually quite excited to watch such storylines on the screen. Here is what some fans on Reddit had to say:

Massri’s post also showed her wielding a light saber so it is not entirely out of the question that she was the Jedi master who taught Wood the ways of the Force as a youngling. Even if she does not get a whole spin-off show, releasing her scenes as an outtake or including them in the next season will also do. Whether or not this will happen remains in the hands of the producers and creators of the show obviously, but it would be a nice treat for fans.
