‘So Glad They Took My Rights Away’: Britney Spears Blasts Toxic Family For Banning Her From Drinking Alcohol, Visits Bar For The First Time With Assistant
Britney Spears has finally freed herself from the yoke of the infamous conservatorship. Her father, Jamie Spears, who exercised control over her life for over a decade, is now in no position to dictate she do as he pleases. And the pop star has made it obvious that she won’t be turning back now. She has steeled her resolve to live as she pleases, even if her father continues to threaten her with an appeal. And in the latest stand of defiance, the pop star has gone to a bar after abstaining from stepping foot in one for 13 years.
Britney Spears sets foot in a bar for the first time
The 40-year-old star shared a story on Instagram which revealed that for the first time in forever, she had set foot inside a bar. Spears shared a video of herself with her assistant, in which they both were enjoying cocktails. And the video was captioned,
“So glad they took my rights away for 13 years to have a cocktail. I’m so grateful y’all.”
The caption was a jibe aimed at her father, who exercised control over the Gimme More singer’s rights and property as well. The ban on alcohol was one such condition.
No alcohol for Britney Spears
Britney Spears’ family had been absolutely certain that they wanted to keep her away from alcohol, even if they had to take extreme measures to achieve that end. According to Page Six, serving alcohol backstage was banned during her shows. Another way to keep up the surveillance was a clause in her conservatorship that stated that alcoholic drinks were off-limits to her. The clause had been in effect for 13 years before the conservatorship was finally done away with. Even during her 4-year stay in Las Vegas, she had no access to alcohol.
But that is not all, Spears also claims that her father, Jamie Spears, and her brother, Bryan Spears, made it mandatory for her to take multiple drug tests a week. The information was released by Britney Spears in a now-deleted Instagram post.
Living her life to the fullest
But after the termination of her conservatorship, Britney Spears is a free woman. And the video she shared on Instagram is another symbol of her newfound freedom. In the video, she can be heard saying, “This is my first time at a bar. First time. I feel so fancy and I feel so sophisticated.”
Her assistant, Victoria Asher, chimed in “We’re having a little beverage,” when the camera turned towards her.
The singer is undoubtedly on cloud nine following the end of her conservatorship. She has come a long way since then. She tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend, Sam Asghari this June in an intimate ceremony. She might also be planning to make a comeback in the music industry. Life has been good to her.
