Sofia Vergara was present to promote her upcoming Netflix Griselda which revolves around the story of a Colombian drug lord on a Spanish talk show. The actor’s interview on El Hormiguero didn’t turn up well. While talking about her reputed show Modern Family, the show host Pablo Motos commented about her accented English. He asked-
“How do you say Modern Family?”
Sofia Vergara realized that she was being ridiculed by the show host and responded-
“Oh because you speak better English than me? Ah. How many Emmy nominations do you have in the United States? How many times did they nominate you at the Golden Globes?”

Sofia Vergara’s Gloria went on to become a household name due to the popularity of one of the most beloved shows of all time Modern Family. During an interview with the media outlet Variety in 2021, Sofia Vergara spoke about her famous show Modern Family and her entrepreneurial ventures. While talking about the stereotypical character of Gloria, she said-
“I cannot complain about that. There were some, but it wasn’t all the time. Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek were already opening doors and then I arrived, so it was not that bad.”
During the initial episodes of the show, Sofia Vergara’s character did not get a good reception from the viewers. she explained that Gloria was a mixture of her family members. She explained-
“I always laughed about it because if Gloria was stereotypical, then that’s just what I am,” Vergara says. “I created Gloria as a mixture of my mom and my aunt and the women that I grew up with in Colombia — they were loud, they were super intense, they were super colorful, super crazy, minding everybody’s business, super passionate and loving.”
She further added-,
“If Gloria was a stereotypical woman, then what a magnificent stereotype. What was wrong with being Gloria? She was fantastic. She cared about everyone, she loved everyone, even the kids that were not hers, she was always trying to help everyone.”
With a net worth of $180 million, Sofia Vergara is one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood.
