Spider-Gwen Is Getting A Gwenverse In Marvel Comics (With More Gwens Being Introduced)
Gwen Stacy’s character has gotten “what if” treatment, and we have seen her becoming her own version of Deadpool as well. However, what if Gwen Stacy got to meet other versions of herself? And they could be like Gwens who are Iron Man or Thor or even Captain America!!!
The new Marvel limited series exactly does this by reimagining Spider-Gwen as other well-known heroes from the multiverse.
As reported by The Mary Sue, Marvel Comics is going to release a Spider-Gwen: Gwenverse in February 2022. This is going to be miniseries, with five issues and written by Tim Seely and artwork is down by Jodi Nishijima, Peach Momoko and David Nakayama.
The synopsis of the same reads as follows:
“When Gwen Stacy was bitten by a radioactive spider, she gained arachnid-like super-powers and started a crime fighting career as Spider-Woman (or as she’s affectionately known to her peers, Ghost-Spider)! But what would have happened if instead she had picked up the enchanted hammer, Mjolnir? Or if she received the Super-Soldier Serum? Or built a high-tech suit of armor? Or…you get the idea! Find out in this new five-issue miniseries as Ghost-Spider tumbles through time and comes face-to-face with her selves!”
In the cover of the first issue showcases Spider-Gwen in the centre. Next to her we can see Nightbird (Gwen Stacy’s incarnation of Nighthawk), Gwen’s versions of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Wolverine and Captain Marvel as well.
Just like Spider-Gwen, the other incarnations also represent the worlds where Gwen took on the mantles of the heroes.
When Tim Seely was asked what was going on with all the “Gwens”, Seely went on to say that if he had the chance, fans would also get “Deathlok”, who is well known for being called a Demolisher.
Marvel has its own way of promoting the series by highlighting the “limitless possibilities” of the premise by asking the fans, “What would have happened if instead she had picked up the enchanted hammer, Mjolnir? Or if she received the Super-Soldier Serum? Or built a high-tech suit of armor?”
Spider-Gwen: Gwenverse #1 will be on sale in February 2022!
