Squid Game fans have another reason to rejoice. Netflix has announced the second season of Squid Game. The Emmy Award-winning Korean show broke all the records on one of the most popular streaming platforms. The series went on to attain critical acclaim and recognition around the world.

The first trailer of the reputed Korean series has been launched by Netflix and fans cannot contain their excitement. They are curious about everything related to the second season of Hwang Donk-hyuk’s survival drama series Squid Game. 

Netflix Announces The Second Season Of Squid Game

Netflix has come up with one of the biggest news for Squid Game fans around the world. The streaming giant confirmed that the second season of the survival Korean drama will be aired in 2024. According to the release schedule issued by Netflix, Squid Game season 2 will debut along with the third season of Bridgerton and the second season of Empress and The Diplomat.

As reported by the reputed media outlet Deadline, according to a letter by Netflix to the Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk and shareholders-

“Looking ahead, despite last year’s strikes pushing back the launch of some titles, we have a big, bold slate for 2024. Audiences will be able to choose from hit returning dramas like ‘The Diplomat S2, ‘Bridgerton S3, ‘Squid Game S2, and ‘Empress S2; unscripted series like ‘Tour de France: Unchained’ S2,’ Love is Blind S6. 

The letter further mentioned-

‘F1: Drive to Survive’ S6 and ‘Full Swing’ S2; and brand new shows like ‘3 Body Problem’ (based on the best selling novel and from the ‘Game of Thrones’ showrunners), ‘Griselda’ (starring Sofia Vergara, which premieres this week), ‘The Gentlemen’ (from Guy Ritchie), ‘Eric’ (starring Benedict Cumberbatch), ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’, ‘Cien Años de Soledad,’ from Colombia based on the novel by Gabriel García Márquez and Senna from Brazil.”

However, no update has been provided by Netflix about the exact release date of Squid Game season 2.

Squid Game was introduced on Netflix in September 2021 and within a short period of time, became a global phenomenon. In less than 30 days, the series has amassed around 1.65 billion viewing hours and was watched on more than 100 million accounts. According to the famous entertainment outlet Variety, the second season of the reputed series will see one of the most prominent faces of the series, Lee Byung-hun as the frontman, with Wi Ha-jun reprising the character of the police detective Jun-ho.

Hwang Dong-hyuk will be donning the director and executive producers’ hats for the second season of the series. The new cast of the Korean survival drama includes Kang Ha-Neul, Yang Dong-Geun, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee Jin-uk, Roh Jae-won, Yim Si-wan, Park Sung-hoon, Park Gyu-young, Lee David, Won Ji-an and Choi Seung-Hyun.
