Millie Bobby Brown’s Upcoming Movie Might Put Her in the Same Club as Timothée Chalamet and Austin Butler
A nine-year-old Millie Bobby Brown made her screen acting debut as a guest star in the ABC fantasy drama series Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. She guest-starred in several other series and also had a starring role in a paranormal drama series- Intruders. She rose to worldwide recognition after she began starring as Eleven.
One thing led to another and by 2023, not only did Brown become an established actress, but also a successful author with the release of her debut novel Nineteen Steps, published by William Morrow. Recently, Deadline has reported that her book is going to receive a screen adaptation with Brown starring as the lead character.
Reportedly, Anthony McCarten is penning the screenplay for the film. McCarten is a four-time Academy Award-nominated screenwriter who is best known for writing biopics, including those of the legendary musicians Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the rock band Queen, and Whitney Houston.
This might give Brown a shot at winning an Academy Award and put her in the same league as the young actors Austin Butler and Timothée Chalamet, both of whom have Oscar nominations to their names. Thanks to their roles in Call Me by Your Name and Elvis, respectively, both Chalamet and Butler received nominations at an early age.
What Else Do We Know About the Film Adaptation of Nineteen Steps?
Nineteen Steps chronicles the life of Nellie Morris, an 18-year-old girl living in the East London neighborhood of Bethnal Green. Based on Brown’s grandmother’s experiences during World War II, the story sees Nellie’s struggles as someone living in wartime under the constant fear of losing their loved ones.
The novel also follows her romance with American airman Ray, and at its very core is the Bethnal Green Tube disaster. It is considered one of the worst wartime events in the UK as a crash caused the death of 173 UK civilians while they were trying to rush to safety during an air raid.
Reportedly, Brown, who has previously produced the Enola Holmes duology and Damsel, will produce this movie under her DMCA banner. Additionally, Jonathan Eirich will produce for Rideback, with Nick Reynolds exec producing for the company.
