Jensen Ackles, the alumnus of Supernatural, has revealed that he and Warner Bros. are currently in the process of working on a new DC project together, though the actor is yet quite tight-lipped on all other details.

During a recent episode of Smallville alum, Michael Rosenbaum, who had played Lex Luthor Inside Of You podcast, Rosenbaum asked Ackles if there was one Marvel or DC movie that he would love to do. “Well, there is… there is a DC property that I’m currently developing right now with Warner Bros. and some other good partners that I’ve got my fingers crossed for,” Ackles replied. “But again, I’m not gonna talk about it, ’cause you don’t wanna jinx it.”

Here’s the tweet:

Jensen Ackles did not really clear as to which property he’s currently developing a film for, or perhaps a probable TV project. He did not specify whether this very project is live-action or an animated series.

While Ackles is best known for playing Dean Winchester on The CW’s Supernatural, Jensen has also had the chance to play in the DC sandbox on some occasions. In fact, Jensen Ackles once went on to star on Smallville opposite Rosenbaum, playing Jason Teague in the prequel series of Supermans fourth season from the year 2004 to 2005.

Apart from this, Jensen Ackles also voiced Jason Todd in the 2010 animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood. He also took on the role of the Dark Knight, voicing The Batman in 2021’s two-part animated movie adaptation of Batman: The Long Halloween. This being said, it’s quite unclear for now if his new project is somewhat related to his older ones, or something else entirely.

Now while it remains to be seen what Ackles’ future with DC is, Ackles is certainly keeping himself busy. Despite Supernatural ending after 15 long seasons in 2020, Ackles is now co-developing a spinoff/prequel series titled The Winchesters, where he will reprise his role as Dean, serving as the show’s narrator.

Jensen Ackles will also play the character of Soldier Boy in the forthcoming season 3 of Supernatural creator Eric Kripke’s live-action adaptation of Darick Robertson and Garth Ennis’ satirical superhero comic The Boys. The third season of The Boys is slated to debut on Prime Video this summer on June 3.
