Sydney Sweeney Finally Breaks Silence on Glen Powell Romance Rumors, Says They “Don’t Care” What Fans Think
Sydney Sweeney, an actress best known for playing Cassie Howard on HBO’s Euphoria, will co-star with actor Glen Powell in an upcoming romantic comedy film. At the Sony Pictures Entertainment presentation during CinemaCon in April 2023 in Las Vegas, the two of them presented their next film.
Following the sharing of a few behind-the-scenes photos from their springtime filming in Australia, there were suspicions that the two actors were having a love relationship. Now that the rumors have surfaced, the actress has finally addressed them.
Sydney Sweeney addresses her relationship with co-star Glen Powell
Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney was rumored to be romantically involved with fellow co-star Glen Powell as they filmed their upcoming romantic-comedy Anyone But You back in Australia during spring.
She recently appeared on the cover of Variety’s latest Power of Young Hollywood Issue where she finally addressed the rumors and said “It’s a rom-com. That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker.”
In the interview that was held before the actors went on strike in July, Sweeney added, “We’re excited about the press tour, and I literally just left ADR with him. We talk all the time like, ‘That’s really funny.’ They want it. It’s fun to give it to ’em.”
Sydney Sweeney’s off-screen romance rumors were fueled by Glen Powell’s breakup
Fans were quick to point out that the news of the two of them being involved off-screen and how comfortable they were with each other in the pictures shared could have led to Powell’s breakup with then-girlfriend Gigi Paris. A source, however, shared at the time that the couple had been on the rocks ever since Powell’s Top Gun: Maverick came out.
They said, “The couple has been on the rocks since Top Gun came out due to the distance necessitated by Powell’s filming schedule.” There were no statements or clarifications stated a the time by either of them.
Talking about Sweeney, she is engaged to Chicago-based restaurateur Jonathan Davino, as she had mentioned initially that she prefers not to date people from the industry or who are always in the limelight.
She said back in 2022, “I don’t date actors or musicians or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way and it’s easiest. I have a great support system. I have people who will battle for me and allow me to be on a pedestal and shine without making me feel like, ‘Oh no, I’m shining too bright and I need to step back.’ I need to be able to be with someone who I can literally hang out with 24/7 and never get sick of and we laugh every single day.”

Anyone But You is Sydney Sweeney’s homage to the romantic comedies of the early 2000s
The actress who serves as the executive producer on the movie during her interview shared that her upcoming romantic comedy movie Anyone But You is an homage to the romantic comedy movies of the early 2000s adding “that early-2000s big blockbuster that people love to go to that made you feel good.”
It was reported that the actress developed the script for the movie with screenwriters Ilana Wolpert and Jeff Kirschenbaum and later got Will Gluck on board as the director, who only had great things to say about the actress.
Gluck said, “She never left the set. She never went to her trailer. She’s so blazingly smart, and she’s such a quick study, and she’s not afraid to ask questions. Her other superpower is that she doesn’t sleep. Two hours every night.”
The director also added, “Sydney is brilliant at a lot of things, including how to deal with social media; she didn’t emotionally internalize it. It was crazy, but after a while it became normal.” She acted as a camp counselor for the cast and crew as she planned activities and outings for everyone, which was much appreciated by the crew.
Anyone But You will premiere in theaters on December 15, 2023
