Ever since the announcement of the upcoming movie of Snow White and its cast, the social media feud has not seen its end. And in the wake of this ongoing controversy surrounding the upcoming “Snow White”, the actress Rachel Zegler has taken to social media to express her frustration over being consistently targeted by fans for her personal views during the marketing of the movie. Rachel Zegler who is said to play the role of Snow White has taken on Twitter to respond to all the backlash and allegations that she’s a narcissist.
Rachel Zegler responds to the allegation of her being a narcissist
Rachel Zegler the West Side Story star is yet again going to be on the silver screen as she is said to be the new Snow White for Disney. However, ever since the announcement of the movie and its cast, there has been disappointment among the fans.
The matter went south when Rachel Zegler started promoting the movie. During the promotional process, Zegler comments on the 1937 Disney’s Snow White was not appreciated by the fans. Even after that, a series of interviews done by Zegler and her personal view on the movie and its story only pissed the fans more. Resulting in Zegler getting more and more blackish while people also started calling her a narcissist.
However, responding to all of these blackish, Rachel Zegler has taken to Twitter (Currently known as X) and talked about her feelings. Ziegler shared a video in which she went all emotional talking about the hate that she has been getting.
In the video, Zegler is talking about how she has been taken out of context. Zegler said, “I have been taken out of context, and at this point, I cannot stop people from doing it, because that is all I have always been, taken out of context”.
Not only this, Zegler also talked about how grateful she is for the opportunities that she is getting and she never meant to put it out like she was not.
Why are fans mad at Rachel Zegler?
Rachel Zegler’s bad-mouthing about the 1937 Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has got her into all the trouble. During the interviews, Zegler talked about the modern edge to the story of Snow White, and her response was enough to piss the fans off.
“I just mean that it’s no longer 1937,” Zegler said. “We absolutely wrote a ‘Snow White’ that … she’s not going to be saved by the prince, and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love; she’s going to be dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be and that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave and true.”
This modern aspect explained by Zegler pissed the fans off as most of the fans did not want alternation in the story of the classic Snow White. Many even believed that Disney was using the same feminist approach as that off Barbie for this movie. However, this was not the only reason, Zegler’s dislike of the original movie also made the fans go wild.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Zegler said she was frightened by the original 1937 film and didn’t revisit it until she was cast as Snow White. “I think I watched it once and never picked it up again. I’m being so serious,” she said.
With the release of this statement, fans only felt that Zegler was not thank full for the role and is being her narcissistic self. Many fans even talked about how she should not be part of the movie if she doesn’t find the original one worth it.
