The girls are often regarded as the “biggest girl group in the world” and have achieved many laurels since their debut and recently made history with their new comeback single Pink Venom. Not only that, the group’s maknae(the youngest member of the group) Lisa has made history with her debut single track LALISA.
BLACKPINK Lisa Made History At The VMAs 2022
Lalisa Manoban who is popularly known for her stage name Lisa made her solo debut with the title track ‘LALISA’ from her first mini album back in September 2021. That track helped BLACKPINK’s maknae dominate various charts, including the record of the fastest music video surpassing 500 million views by a female K-pop soloist.
The singer has again made history by becoming the first female solo artist to win the Best K-Pop award at the MTV Video Music Awards. After accepting the award, she gave a shoutout to her fellow group members and Blinks (BLACKPINK fans) stating, “Blinks, you’re like the most important ones. Thank you so much for making this happen.”

Apart from the group’s maknae, the group collectively bagged the award for Best Metaverse Performance for their PUBG collaboration Ready For Love from their second studio album BORN PINK. While the girls were appreciated for their efforts, their maknae was being criticized online for snagging the award for the Best K-Pop for her solo song, LALISA, with many stating that it was unfair. Lisa had always been the center of all malicious comments due to her nationality (Thai) with many even stating, that the singer being Thai, won the best K-Pop.
Not only that, many even criticized her for being an Asian, who won the award suggesting that they shall make different categories for the same. However, Blinks came to her rescue and supported the artist with their heartfelt congratulatory messages.
Lisa didn’t just made history as the first kpop soloist to win in the history of #VMA but she made history as a South East Asian woman competing with several groups. She did this in a male dominated industry.
