Taylor Sheridan Utterly Wasting a Badass Yellowstone Character Who Could’ve Challenged Beth Dutton Is a Terrible Look On Him After ‘Landman’
- Fans worried about Taylor Sheridan's Landman's future after pointing out dismissed plotlines in Yellowstone.
- Kelly Reilly bids farewell to Yellowstone in the most heart warming way.
- Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler to star in their own spin-off show.
Created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, Yellowstone is a neo-Western drama following the life of the Duttons and their challenges to save their Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. The series stars Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Wes Bentley, and more. The series concluded after five seasons on December 15, 2024.
Upon release, Yellowstone did not receive the reaction the makers expected from the audience, but over a couple of seasons, the series and the characters grew on the audience. It received a positive response and thus became a fan favorite to the point that when it was announced that the show was concluding after five seasons, fans were very sad. But now they are simply disappointed, as they believe Sheridan wasted a very significant character.
Yellowstone fans disappointed with Taylor Sheridan dismissing one plot line involving Beth Dutton
Yellowstone’s finale episode, ‘Life Is A Promise,’ premiered on December 15, 2024, bringing the story of five seasons to its conclusion. Co-creator Taylor Sheridan is also working on another show, Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton and more. It’s not surprising that Yellowstone and Landman are compared not in terms of the storyline but in how the stories of both shows are presented on-screen.
A Reddit user mentioned that Taylor Sheridan introduced powerhouse attorney Angela Blue Thunder, played by actress Q’orianka Kilcher, who often helps Thomas Rainwater and the Broken Rock Indian Reservation in Season 3. The actress returned to reprise her character for the final season after being away for season 4.
A user replied by stating that they had thought that Sheridan was going to write a plot line that puts Angela Blue Thunder up against Beth Dutton. The character had challenged Thomas Rainwater and his leadership, warning that she was going to force him out of his position as the chairman. But then she disappeared, which made fans wonder what happened to her.
Fans have also noted that because both Angela Blue Thunder and Beth Dutton are powerful, self-sufficient women who can take down their enemies, it would have been nice to see them challenging each other. Angela Blue Thunder’s backstory which was introduced in season 3 was interesting for fans to look forward to the character going up against Beth Dutton, however, not only did she disappear but the plot line was dismissed too.
But Sheridan just dismissed the plot line and focused on others. The dismissal of a plotline that can keep fans hooked to the show comes out as bad for the co-creator, especially when there is another show receiving an equal amount of appreciation, like Yellowstone.
The cast of Landman is looking forward to getting a renewal for season two, but fans are worried because they don’t want Sheridan to abandon such interesting plotlines.
Kelly Reilly bids farewell to fan-favorite Yellowstone
Ahead of the season five episode 14 premiere on Paramount+, actress Kelly Reilly, who portrayed Beth Dutton for five long seasons, took to her social media to share a heartwarming farewell to the show. She wrote,
The actress further thanked the co-creator, Taylor Sheridan, and the cast and crew of the show. She mentioned that words cannot describe how she feels about the people she got to work with and create with over the seasons. She added that she has now made lifelong friendships, noting that the support she’s got from the crew and the trust from the cast is beyond her imagination.
Reilly’s character of Beth Dutton was not only a fan favorite but also considered one of the most badass characters on the show. After Kevin Costner left, it felt like it was on Beth Dutton to carry the show even if it was for the second part of the fifth season. The actress mentioned that the role had challenged her every day, and she will forever be grateful for it.
The actress thanked Taylor Sheridan for trusting her and believing in her with Beth Dutton and concluded by saying that playing her made her feel like she had a fire inside of her. Yellowstone concluded on December 15, 2024, but it has been reported via Variety that Reilly is soon going to appear in a spin-off series starring Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.
Yellowstone is streaming on Paramount+.
