Throughout his journey with Marvel Cinematic Universe, James Gunn has spent a huge amount of time focused on the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Starting in 2012, he has since directed three installments, with the latest one being Vol.3, which was released earlier this year.

The decade-long journey has surely brought the cast and crews close to each other, especially the core member casts and Gunn, who have developed a family-like bond with each other.

And although the director’s journey with MCU has come to an end, the friendship has not. Gunn took to his Twitter to wish Chris Pratt on his birthday showing how much he valued their bond.

A day ago on Pratt’s birthday, Gunn took to his Twitter to wish the actor his 44th year by sharing a very sweet message where he said,

“Thanks for being a monolithic testament to my good judge of character”

It comes as no surprise considering how the cast supported the director when he was fired by Disney back in 2018. Pratt as well as all the other cast members including Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, and Pom Klementieff had their full support for the director. Klementieff even burst out in tears when she heard the news.

MCU’s 10th movie, the 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy came out in 2014 as part of the studio’s second phase. It was mentioned for the first time by Kevin Feige in 2010 at a comic-con event. The film was written and directed by James Gunn, who did a massive job both critically and financially. It made a whopping 777 million dollars at the worldwide box-office collection against a budget of 232 million dollars. The film also received various accolades and was nominated at the 87th Academy Awards.

Following this, two more sequels have since been released. Vol. 2 was released back in 2017, and Vol. 3, which is the latest installment, got released this year. However, that was Gunn’s last film in MCU. The director has taken up his next big project for DCEU’s upcoming Superman: Legacy.
