Thanos’ Josh Brolin And ‘Aquaman Star’ Jason Momoa Joins Dune Reboot
Denis Villeneuve’s iteration of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel will be more like “Star Wars, but for adults”, as per the director himself. This comparison may have sent a wrong message to some fans, but for most, they’re hoping that the director manages to pull off Herbert’s adaptation book right away. David Lynch put out his version in 1984 and it’s not what fans of source material wanted.
Josh Brolin’s Role
Josh Brolin will reprise the role of Gurney Halleck in the Reboot of Dune. The character was originally played by Patrick Stewart in the 1984 version of the film. Gurney was a major character in Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel and 1976’s novel Children of Dune.
The character also appeared in some of Dune prequel and sequel novels by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. He’s talented in the use of baliset and is known for the big scar on his jawline that he got from a whip.

Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista has also signed onto the Dune Reboot film. Both Brolin and Bautista will join Timothee Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Javier Bardem, Zendaya and Rebecca Ferguson. There are still some reports to be filled, so we believe we may see more A-list characters to join the Dune Reboot.
The Dune reboot will be directed by Denis Villeneuve. He also co-wrote the script alongside Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth. Dune by Frank Herbert is known for being sprawling and dense. The film needs the right approach to get it right and get all the information into the film. This is why ”
Another reason why David Lynch’s approach wasn’t good enough as it left too much out of the book when trying to cram everything into a single film.
Jason Momoa to also join Dune
Aquaman star Jason Momoa is also under-talks to play the role of Duncan Idaho. According to the Frank Herbert based novel, “Idaho was a swordmaster in the service of House Atreides, and one of Duke Leto’s right-hand men, with Gurney Halleck and Thufir Hawat. Duncan Idaho was said to be very handsome. He had black, curly hair, a dark complexion, and green or blue eyes. During the days of the original Duncan Idaho, and during the time of the God Emperor, he was regarded as something of a ladies’ man.”
This looks like Jason Momoa will bring the role to life. This could also be termed as an embarrassment of riches.
Other Detals
It has been reported that Dune will begin its filming in Budapest and Jordan, starting this fall, which means that the casting process needs to be done soon. Fans are very hopeful that Denis Villeneuve will make a faithful adaptation of Frank Herbert’s work. Some fans are even hoping that the director will also include Alejandro Jodorowsky’s concept of art that was never used. This is, except for some designs that George Lucas borrowed for Star Wars. For now, we will just have to wait and see what Director Villeneuve decides to get in.
