“That dedication is incredible”: James McAvoy Claims Dwayne Johnson and Hugh Jackman Don’t Get Enough Praise for Their Dedication That’s Not for Mere Mortals
James McAvoy is a Scottish actor who was brought to fame because of his role as Mr. Tumnus in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in 2005. McAvoy later went on to star in movies, like Wanted, The Last King of Scotland, Atonement, and more.
The actor also portrayed the character of Charles Xavier in X-Men: First Class. Most recently, he was seen in Glass where he reprised his role of multiple-personality sufferer Kevin Wendell Crumb. For the role, he even hired a personal trainer to stay in physique and it’s safe to say that it wasn’t easy.
James McAvoy has applauded Dwayne Johnson and Hugh Jackman for their dedication
Working on his physique relentlessly with celebrity trainer Magnus Lygdback has made James McAvoy respect Dwayne Johnson and Hugh Jackman even more. For those unaware, Lydgback has trained Gal Gadot for Wonder Woman 1984 and Alicia Vikander for Tomb Raider.
While recently speaking about how hard he had to train for his role in Glass, James McAvoy had this to say (H/T Indian Express):
“I knew I had to get down in the gym and kind of back up his name. I had to give a little bit of aesthetic credibility to that fear that he’s supposed to inspire in people. You’re in every day working your socks off (acting), and you’re also in the gym at five in the morning and then pretty much working out on set.”
Furthermore, James McAvoy applauded Dwayne Johnson, Chris Hemsworth, and Hugh Jackman for keeping themselves fit all year round and said:
“Guys like The Rock and Hugh Jackman and Chris Hemsworth – the guys who keep themselves in that condition every day. That dedication is incredible. ”
James McAvoy on potentially returning as Professor X in the MCU
Marvel Studios managed to regain the film rights to X-Men along with Deadpool and Fantastic Four back in 2019 when Disney acquired Fox. Since then, there have been rumors about James McAvoy also being in talks with the MCU to return as Professor X as the studio plans to bring mutants back.
During a conversation with ET News during the premiere of The Book of Clarence, McAvoy was asked if he was thinking of his return. He replied by saying:
“Anything I say will get me in trouble. I’ve had no contact with them. If they want me to come back, they need to talk to me and need a good script. I am not saying anything.”
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that James McAvoy has addressed his return as Professor X. That said, it remains to be seen if he actually does reprise his role.
