‘That Rihanna reign just won’t let up’: Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Beats Britney Spears’ 2001 Performance, Becomes 2nd Most Watched Event With Staggering 118.7M Viewers
It was incredible to see Rihanna perform during this year’s Super Bowl. Traditionally, halftime shows have featured many guests in the past, but this year Rihanna performed the entire concert as a one-woman bonanza. Although the event usually garners a lot of viewership every year, this year was particularly notable since the singer graced the stage with her pregnant belly, drawing millions of viewers’ attention from around the globe. In Glendale, Arizona’s State Farm Stadium, she flew above the field for the entirety of the Super Bowl 57 halftime show. She performed while standing on a transparent, rectangular platform that lifted and lowered the performers. Robyn Rihanna Fenty appeared on stage in a crimson jumpsuit with a red bustier underneath, looking super hot as she showed off her belly.
Super Bowl 2023 Had Its Highest Viewership in Six Years
In her first live performance appearance in five years, the Diamond singer charmed the evening with her hit song, Bitch Better Have My Money, while hanging on a floating platform. She then performed a few of her popular songs, including Rude Boy, Umbrella, Where Have You Been, and We Found Love. Throughout the 13-minute performance, the concept and color scheme remained the same, with red lights occasionally showering the stage and fireworks bursting in the air above the Umbrella singer. The performance is reportedly now the second-most watched halftime show in history, with Katy Perry’s in 2015 drawing higher ratings and staying on top. Many fans at the game expressed their support for the singer, while Adele told Page Six she was just going to watch Rihanna’s performance. Cara Delevingne was seen wearing a merch that read, “Rihanna concert interrupted by a football game, weird but whatever.” The 34-year-old singer was surrounded by a throng of dancers who were decked out in white sweatpants, hooded jackets, and sunglasses while performing.

The Fox Sports public relations account tweeted the news late Monday night. For eight years, Katy Perry held the record for the most watched show, and now Rihanna comes in second on the list. Lady Gaga’s 2017 performance garnered 117.5 million viewers, because of which she was nominated for six Emmy awards that year as a result of her halftime gig, and she took home one of them. At Super Bowl 57, the legendary country singer Chris Stapleton sang the national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner, on the field by himself with only his electric guitar.
