“That was the worst experience of my life”: Mariah Carey Reveals She Will Never Return to American Idol as Queen of Christmas Eyes Another Top Spot During Holiday Season
Mariah Carey is referred to as the Songbird Supreme who is known for her five-octave vocal range, melismatic singing style, and signature use of the whistle register. She is one of the popular female musicians who still have a healthy career in the industry so far. Her musical talent has given her many achievements which she is grateful for, however, when it comes to being a mentor, she has not much to say.
The Queen of Christmas had quite a bad experience when she was a judge on American Idol. Due to that, she even revealed having not returned to the singing competition series.
What Happened With Mariah Carey on The American Idol?
The 53-year-old singer appeared on the twelfth season of American Idol alongside Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson, and Keith Urban. Even though no one would remember entirely about that season, it was quite infamous due to the feud that happened between the former and Nicki Minaj.
It all stemmed when the Queen of Christmas started taking sides with her fellow judge Keith Urban who claimed that a contestant was a country singer.
Minaj on the other hand was completely in denial with that and even stormed out of the room after getting into an argument with Mariah Carey. Their conflict continued to appear throughout the season with the duo ending up quitting American Idol after filming that season.
Both the ladies had not good experience while being in the series due to their clashes with Carey having it worst.
Mariah Carey Would Never Want to Return to American Idol
Having not-so-good experience in American Idol, she talked about her experience on Australia’s Kyle and Jackie O show. When the songwriter was asked about ever returning to the singing competition series, she replied,
“Hell no! Absolutely not. That was the worst experience of my life.”
Sharing behind-the-scenes moments with her on-screen feud with Minaj, she stated,
“I’m not going to get into what it was, but let’s just say I don’t think they had any intentions for us to have a good experience doing that show. Pitting two females against each other wasn’t cool.”
Regarding her experience being the judge of the famous TV series, she stated,
“It’s so boring and so fake, I’m sorry. When I say it’s fake, I mean, I have to make up things to say about everybody. Half the time, the performances are good, you’ll just be like, ‘It was good.’ ”
She made it very clear that she would “never want to be involved with it again.”
Even though her feud with the rapper was quite known, her musical skills have made her way to being on top, especially during the holiday season. Her All I Want For Christmas Is You is a mega-hit worldwide and is still in demand. Due to its modern pop vibes, it became rather timeless. That song has earned her millions of dollars and is set to rock once again this Christmas.
