Aaron Taylor-Johnson says he’s secure with what he has with his wife Sam-Taylor-Johnson
In a recent interview with Esquire, Bullet Train actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson shares his much-talked-about yet private life with his wife and director Sam Taylor-Johnson.
He said, “I’ve probably talked to you more about my kids and Sam than I have with anybody. I’ve really got nothing to hide, and I’m secure in what we have. But I’m not going to unlock things that are actually precious to me.”
The actor hinted about the 23-year-age gap between the partners who met the director on the sets of her directorial debut in the 2009 drama Nowhere Boy. They began dating when he was 18 years old and she was 42 years old, which resulted in major backlash from the fans. They got married in 2012 and took each other’s names.
He added, “I met Sam as an actor and director. I think we’re really great at collaborating. But that’s not why I fell in love with her.” He explained that he sensed in his guts that he knew the instant he met her that she was the one for him and as for the kids; Taylor-Johnson said that he knew that he was going to have a big family and be a young father.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson called Sam Taylor-Johnson his ‘soulmate’
Back in 2019, during an interview with The Guardian, the actor gave a rare insight into his life with his wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson, even though he is referred to as her poster boy. He said,
“I knew instantly with Sam that I’d found my soulmate. I knew instantly that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this person. I remember it very well, and a year to the day [after] I met her I proposed. I knew I wanted a family with her, I knew I wanted kids, and a month later she was pregnant with our first child.”
The 23-year age gap between the two of them does not bother two of them as she is described as someone with a youthful spirit, whereas he is an old soul who prefers to stay at home with his family and cook for them. He said, “I’ve never for a second felt an age difference. Sam is far more outgoing and energetic and achieving than I am.”
Sam Taylor- Johnson also said during an interview in 2019, “I’m so lucky to have such a supportive husband. When he works, I don’t, and vice versa. Then we had this fantastic moment where we could work together, and it was a dream come true.” Aaron Taylor added, “There’s nothing more empowering than supporting my wife in her passions and ambitions; I’ve never felt more – what’s the opposite of emasculated? Empowered.”
The actor lastly added that the negativity surrounding their relationship is other people’s problems and issues because he lives his life to the fullest and he operates from his instincts and his heart.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson does not care about big movie franchises
The actor who starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Quicksilver, in Kick-Ass, and in Godzilla as well, said during an interview that those things lined up for him but he did not really care for them.
He revealed that there were bigger franchises that had offered him the roles and no one knew about them, but he turned them all down because his kids were born at the time and that took his priority. He said,
“I wanted, purely, to be with my babies. I didn’t want to be taken away from them. I battled with what that would be like.”
Aaron and Sam share two kids, Wylda and Romy, and the actor is also stepfather to her daughters, Angelia and Jessie, whom the director shares with her ex-husband, Jay Jopling. Talking about fatherhood, he said that he enjoys the normality of things, the everyday stuff, and getting his kids ready in the morning, taking them to school and activities.
