“That’s what narcissists do”: Howard Stern Blasted Johnny Depp for ‘Overacting’ in Amber Heard Drama to Convince Fans He Was Innocent
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s highly publicized defamation trial gained a lot of attention from the mainstream media. Johnny Depp sued his ex-wife, Amber Heard, over an op-ed she wrote back in 2018. In the op-ed, she claimed to be a survivor of domestic abuse. After a long battle, the court concluded that the op-ed was actually about Depp, and Heard was found guilty.
Several celebrities came forward to share their opinions and supported Heard and Depp during their tough battle. American radio personality Howard Stern also gave his views on the trial claiming that Depp was “overacting” in the court.
Howard Stern called Johnny Depp a narcissist
Back in April 2022, when actor Johnny Depp and actress Amber Heard were fighting their defamation trial, radio personality Howard Stern had something to say about Depp’s behavior in court on his SiriusXM radio show,
“The reason he wanted…it televised, is that’s what narcissists do. They think they can talk their way out of anything. I think Johnny Depp is a huge narcissist and what I mean by that is — he figured, ‘I’ll put this on TV because I’m so persuasive and because I’m so smart. I’m such a wonderful guy.'”
Stern explained that the actor is putting on an act to convince viewers that he is innocent. The trial attracted a lot of attention and clips from the court went viral on social media.
Howard Stern said the actor is “overacting“
Later on the radio show, Stern watched more video clips of Depp from the trial, and concluded that Depp was “overacting.” He said,
“If he isn’t acting — I mean, he’s so overacting, ’cause he’s writing his own material as he goes along. You know, I got to tell you, he’s wrong. He shouldn’t be putting this on TV in any shape.”
Stern then said that Depp is trying to “revive his career and public image” with this trial, further adding that Depp and Heard “sound like two battling children” in court.

Johnny Depp won the defamation trial
The actor later won the defamation trial as the jury concluded on June 1st, 2022 that the editorial was about him and ordered the actress to pay the actor for compensatory and punitive damages, which added up to roughly $10 million. She also received $2 million in compensatory damages.
Since the jury’s decision, both celebrities have moved on with their lives. Things are not looking good for Heard as Depp’s fans have demanded her removal from several projects. On the other hand, Depp returned to the music industry with his good friend Jeff Beck and even sold his infamous mansion in Australia for a whopping $40 million last year.
