The Batman’ Is A Very Unique Take On a Familiar Dark Knight Story
As time passes by, it’s getting more difficult for filmmakers and directors to get a fresh spin on the Batman mythology, especially when DC fans have now grown weary of seeing Martha and Thomas Wayne gunned down in the streets of Gotham City, which even went on to factor into the plot of Joaquin Poenix’sJoker, despite the absence of the Caped Crusader himself.
Based on everything that, as viewers, we’ve heard and seen until now, though, the director of The Batman Matt Reeves is all set to slap a coat of paint on the Dark Knight that’s about as fresh as it could get.
Obviously, fans have seen Bruce Wayne’s alter ego teaming up with Commissioner Jim Gordon to take on Th Penguin, the Catwoman, the Riddler in a lot of combinations on many occasions across various forms of media, but the much-anticipated DC blockbuster is setting a totally unique stall.
Batman actor Colin Farrell has gone all-in to bring Oswald Cobblepot to life in The Batman by spending hours in the makeup room to completely disappear into his role. Talking to Variety, Colin Farrell revealed that the team had to eventually whittle down the process quite significantly, before teasing that we’re after actually getting a story no DC fan has ever seen told before.
“Eventually they got it down to two. Matt Reeves is a wonderful filmmaker, so I was just grateful to be allowed anywhere near it. Hopefully, people are entertained by it and moved by it. It’s a very unique take on a story that’s often been told.”
At almost up to three hours runtime length, the story will not be a problem for DC’s standalone The Batman when there’s a lot of it to go around, and the only question that stands is whether or not the finished product lives up to the high expectations that now surround it.
