The British Have Chosen Their Next James Bond Actor after Daniel Craig – And it Goes Against All Odds
Since Daniel Craig’s departure as James Bond, speculations and rumors are running wild as to who will now donne the tuxedo. The names of actors who could potentially be the new 007 include Henry Cavill, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, James Norton, and Paapa Essiedu.
But in a recent UK-wide poll conducted by William Hill Vegas, the British have spoken about who they would want to see serving His Majesty’s secret service. And their choice goes against all things the producers want for James Bond.
Who does Britain want to be the New James Bond?
The curiosity that ensued after Daniel Craig bowed out of the espionage-thriller franchise has resulted in heated discussions about the franchise’s future. While no official statements have been made about the new era, fans are abuzz with speculations and vocalizing their views in social media spaces.
Stemming from the same, a lot of surveys are being conducted on subjects relating to the Bond universe. In a William Hill conducted survey, the people of Britain have spoken. Luther star Idris Elba, with 17.5% of the votes is the most popular choice for the role of the British spy.
Coming in close is Tom Hardy with 16.6% of the votes, a very thin margin over Henry Cavill who got 16.5% of the votes.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is rumored to have shot the infamous gun-barrel scene to be considered for the role by the creators is not a choice people agree on. The Tenet Star only got 2.7% of the votes.
Factors in Play to Pick A New James Bond
The word is that even though Elba is the most popular choice, it is unlikely that he will play 007. Apart from the fact that the actor himself has said that it is “not a goal” of his, he does not meet the alleged criterion the studio has listed out.
Reportedly, the studio is eyeing actors under the age of forty. Elba is now fifty-one. In fact, all the frontrunners in the survey do not make this criteria which is considered as the actors will play the character for over a decade. Taylor-Johnson who is currently thirty-three, is an exception, making him that much more likely to get the part.
Amidst the chaos of possibilities and speculations, fan demand, and studio needs, the anticipation for who will now get the keys to Aston Martin DB5 ascends.
