The Flash is finally heading to theaters. In 2014, Warner Bros. stated that the film will be released in theaters in March 2018. However, due to the film’s protracted development, that release date was ultimately pushed back. The Flash was initially scheduled for release in July 2022 after Andy Muschietti was chosen as the director, but COVID-19 ultimately forced a postponement to November 2022. Warner Bros. ultimately made the decision to postpone the film once more in order to give the visual effects and creative teams additional time to finish the project. The Flash will reset the whole cinematic universe, according to James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new plan for the DC Universe, making it possibly the most significant DCU film to date.

Who Is The Other Villain Ezra Miller’s The Flash?

Following the release of The Flash‘s most recent trailer, Michael Shannon‘s General Zod, who hasn’t been seen since battling Henry Cavill’s Superman in Man of Steel, has returned to the DC Universe. While Michael Keaton’s comeback as Batman and Michael Shannon’s portrayal of General Zod from Man of Steel have both been confirmed, the possibility of further DC cameos is intriguing.

An official cast list for that movie, which some media outlets have obtained, reportedly pairs Michael Shannon—last seen in Man Of Steel—with Antje Traue. Trau’s participation on in The Flash was initially announced in late 2021 along with Michael Shannon’s return to the character of Zod.

Shannon played the Kryptonian outlaw in the 2013 film Man of Steel, and Traue played his right-hand woman Faora, another Kryptonian who perished when she flew into a terraforming World Engine.

The Flash Movie Cast

While the news of Michael Shannon and Antje Traue’s return comes as a pleasant surprise, The Flash will feature several other big cameos.

Ezra Miller will play two different versions of  Barry Allen in the movie. However, the cast of the movie features a large number of additional DC characters. Kiersey Clemons returns as Iris West from Zack Snyder’s Justice League and Sasha Calle plays Kara Zor-El (commonly known as Supergirl) in The Flash in place of Henry Cavill’s Superman. Michael Keaton, who played Batman in Tim Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns, will reprise his part.

Additionally, for one final time, Ben Affleck dons the Batman cape and cowl. The Flash must live up to Ben Affleck’s divisive but woefully underappreciated portrayal of the cape-wearing vigilante. The Flash also stars Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdu as Nora Allen, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and Kiersey Clemons as Iris West.

Temuera Morrison, who plays Thomas Curry, Aquaman’s father in Aquaman and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, is also anticipated to make an appearance in The Flash. Luke Brandon Field, Ruby Mancuso, and Saoirse-Monica Jackson have also been hired for unspecified roles in The Flash. Gal Gadot was also believed to be reprising her Wonder Woman role from earlier DCEU productions, but it’s not certain if this will still happen. Several additional DC cameos by returning performers from DC’s film history are also anticipated to be featured.

The Flash is running into theaters on June 16, 2023.
