She received multiple accolades, including five Grammy Awards, eleven Billboard Music Awards, eleven American Music Awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and eight Guinness World Records for her talents.

In recent news, it was reported that the Grammys wanted to honor Jackson with a Global Impact Award. But her rivalry with CBS didn’t allow it to happen, and thus, it was presented to someone else.

Every football fan and non-fan would remember this incident which took place in Super Bowl XXVIII broadcasted on CBS. During the halftime performance, Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake came together to give the performance of a lifetime. Toward the end of their performance, while staging Rock your body, Timberlake proceeded to tear off a part of Jackson’s costume revealing her right brea*t to a total of 140 million audiences for a split second.

The supposed “wardrobe malfunction” took the world by storm. Both the artist were criticized heavily for it. It resulted in Jackson being blacklisted by Les Moonves, then-CEO of CBSAfter the act, her radio replays and television promotion went down subsequently. Although it is still not clear if that was a part of the said performance or not, the moment still stands as one of the most significant moments in Super Bowl history.

CBScame in the way of Janet Jackson and the Grammys yet again

Following the incident, Jackson was blacklisted from the Grammys that year.And their plan to celebrate Janet Jackson in a big way this year came to a halt. Seems like the feud between the artist and CBSis still very much alive. They decided on an alternate way to honor Jackson in the pre-Grammy event with the Black Music Collective, which occurs a few days before the main event. But because of her tight schedule, the singer was unable to attend the event.

Thus, it is speculated as one of the reasons for this incident.

Lil Wayne ended up winning the Global Impact honor along with a bonus Drake video. It is still not clear if it was meant to honor both the artist, if everything would have worked according to the plan. This made it look like a last-minute decision to replace Jackson.
