Star Wars has been captivating fans for years, and since the franchise released its first film, fans have experienced some of the most exciting and thrilling characters. Terry Crews who’s an incredible actor and a former football player, was drawn to acting after he witnessed Star Wars.

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star had strict parents while growing up, and since his mother never allowed him to get into sports, TV shows, and outings, Crews revealed the time when he realized his passion for acting.

Terry Crews’ career journey is quite noteworthy and remarkable as he developed a desire to step into the entertainment industry at the tender age of nine when he had limited freedom. While speaking to ABC News, the actor recalled asking his mother “Just give me a half hour. We won’t watch all of it. When the credits come, we’ll close our eyes”. Crews wanted to watch the Star Wars movie with his aunt in 1977. He added:

“It changed my life. I said, ‘This. I’m going to be involved in entertainment somehow, someway.’ I didn’t know I was going to be an actor, but I was like, ‘Somehow, someway, this changed my life. But it came out of a very sad time.”

The Expendables star recalled developing a passion for acting at the wrong age. However, this didn’t stop Terry Crews from making a well-established and lauded career in the industry. Crews finally made it and has often mentioned his satisfaction with being an actor.

Terry Crews Initially Struggled While Entering Into Hollywood

After becoming a well-known footballer, Terry Crews was extremely excited about entering Hollywood and securing big opportunities. However, things turned out differently, initially. Despite being an NFL star, he wasn’t resistant to challenges and struggles. Terry Crews’ first job after stepping into Hollywood was as a janitor. During an interview with HuffPost, the actor recalled:

“The first job I ever got after the NFL, I picked up a broom and I was sweeping factories. Let me tell you what happened while I was sweeping. I was like, ‘This is horrible, I can’t do this.”

It was a bitter pill to swallow for a former NFL star to work as a cleaner when he expected massive opportunities to knock on his doors. Terry Crews moved to Los Angeles and decided to never give up on his passion for acting. The actor mentioned accepting his job with humility and since then, he has never been broke.
