CM Punk returned to the WWE after nearly a decade last night at Survivor Series. Punk left the promotion back in 2014 and went on to sign with the UFC. However, his UFC career was rather short-lived as he lost both of his fights.

In 2021, seven years away from the world of pro wrestling, CM Punk signed with WWE’s biggest competitor, AEW. However, Punk has been notorious for his attitude and certainly has his own demons. Because of the same, he was fired from the company earlier this year after being involved in a backstage altercation. With his return to the WWE, we will take a look at which role would be suitable for him from Watchmen. Watchmen is a comic book series that was first released in 1986. It is worth noting that there have been a movie and a mini-TV series also made about the same.

Is CM Punk most suitable to play ‘The Comedian’ from Watchmen?

Considering the fact that CM Punk is loved and hated by many, we figured that the most suitable role for him to play in Watchmen would be The Comedian.

Edward Morgan Blake, aka The Comedian, was a part of the eight crime-fighting vigilantes. However, despite being on the heroes’ side, Blake was violent, sadistic, and had sociopathic tendencies. He lived most of his life killing heroes and villains alike with no remorse.

The Comedian has been depicted as a person with mixed personality traits. While he was cruel, he was never completely heartless. Edward Morgan Blake had a change of perspective when he found out Ozymandias’ plan of attacking New York City. The Comedian was later killed by Ozymandias who was the main antagonist of Watchmen.

WWE Chief Content Officer details signing CM Punk again

In a move that shocked everyone, CM Punk was brought back to the WWE. For those unaware, he left the WWE in 2014 on a rather bad note and despite several rumors of him returning to the company, many believed that the move would never happen.

Speaking about bringing CM Punk back to the WWE, the company’s Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque aka Triple-H suggested that Punk has been brought back because the WWE universe wanted it. He had this to say to Wrestling Inc:

“You can say this about CM Punk, love him, hate him, positive, negative whatever you want to say, people talk about him all the time. He is a magnet for that. He is a conversation starter. And for me, if our fans want it, if the WWE Universe is excited to have it, then let’s go, and we’ll figure out the rest of it from there.”

Triple H is certainly not wrong with CM Punk’s assessment. The former WWE champion has always found a way to stay relevant and with him returning to the company, fans are eager to see what’s in store for them.
