“The whole cast was talking about it”: Dakota Johnson’s Marvel Co-Star Had A Hard Time Believing Leonardo DiCaprio’s Words On Euphoria After Working With Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie
Sydney Sweeney, an actress who first gained notoriety for her role as Cassie Howards in HBO Max’s Euphoria, is currently preparing for the next Marvel Studios film, Madame Web, in which she will co-star with actress Dakota Johnson. S.J. Clarkson is directing the picture, which is supposed to be the fourth installment in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, from a screenplay written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama.
The actress also starred in the critically acclaimed The White Lotus, which garnered her two nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards in 2022. In Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, Sweeney also had an appearance. Sweeney revealed that the entire Euphoria cast experienced a weird moment as a result of DiCaprio. Find out now.
Leonardo DiCaprio’s response to loving Euphoria sent the cast into a frenzy zone
Back in 2019, during a Variety interview, actor Leonardo DiCaprio was asked about the TV that he had been watching at the time to which the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor said,
“I just saw Euphoria, which is amazing. That show is amazing.”
The actor’s response had the star cast surprised and Zendaya, who stars as Rue Benette on the show, retweeted the clip. Sydney Sweeney, who stars in Cassie Howards, shared during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that it was so cool.
The actress who will be sharing screen space with Dakota Johnson soon had shared the screen space with DiCaprio in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood said to THR,
“I’ve always been a big fan of Leo, so getting to work with him was crazy awesome, but then to be on the same red carpet for the same movie and then he’s saying my show is amazing, I’m like, “What is happening right now?” The whole cast was talking about it and freaking out in our group chat, and then Barbie [Ferreira, who plays Kat] made a shirt of the quote that Leo said and made it for all of us. So we all have a shirt that says it now.”
Sydney Sweeney talks about working with Leonardo DiCaprio
Dakota Johnson’s co-star back in 2018 spoke to IMDB for Take 5 and shared that after she saw Leonardo DiCaprio in Romeo and Juliet she was so head over heels for him that she watched everything he was in. Sweeney further shared that when she got the opportunity to work with him on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, she could not believe in herself. She recalled,
“I had to pinch myself when I got to work with him,” adding that she just tried her best not to faint.
Ahead of the movie’s release, she spoke with ET and explained how nervous she was to share screen space with Brad Pitt, adding, “You walk on the first day and you have this amazing, talented group of actors and filmmakers. I’m just sitting there like, ‘Hey, I’m Syd.’ What do you say, Mr. Pitt? From the first day, everyone was so welcoming and so nice. It just felt like another day at work.”
The actress goes on to share that they had a lot of fun while filming as they did not have their phones on set, so everybody kind of ended up talking and getting to know each other better. She also added, “I actually got to celebrate my 21st birthday on set, which was really cool. I got to work with Leo and Brad and I got my first bottle of champagne from them and it was a really neat experience.”
Sydney Sweeney to play Julia Carpenter in Madame Web alongside Dakota Johnson
The actress’ upcoming Marvel movie starring Dakota Johnson on Madame Web has some updates with Sweeney’s role as Julia Carpenter a.k.a. Spider-Woman in the movie, aims to break through the trend of underwhelming superhero films and deliver a different experience for the audience.
There had been high expectations of the movie but the details about the movie have been kept under wraps. Syd said that when she heard the news, she dreamt it out and then went to the comic store to purchase every comic that mentioned her character’s name.
Sweeney revealed in an interview for Total Film via GamesRadar, “I couldn’t have been more excited. I can’t wait to be able to talk about it. I can’t wait to be able to be next to the girls that I filmed with – Dakota and Isabela, and Celeste. We had so much fun together. And I’m really excited that it’s just gonna be a powerhouse of badass females for the world to see.”
Madame Web lands in theaters on February 16, 2024.
