Social media has made it simple for fans to find, follow, and communicate with their favorite celebrities. Sadly, it’s also a popular forum where people can make death threats against celebrities and insult them. We have, however, witnessed ‌many inhumane treatments given to celebrities and authors by maniacs.

The comments directed at these A-listers typically contain statements like “I hope you die” and “Go and Die!!! “.

In spite of this, J. K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, was the lone person who has been added to the list recently and has directly received a death threat. Moreover, it wasn’t from one of her fans, but rather from a well-known author. The New York Times’s decision to stand up for Rowling and publish a defense of the Harry Potter author has put her in the public eye recently.

Rowling believes that because women are women and men are men; women’s spaces should be protected from biological men. Though, the British author and philanthropist has never discriminated against or endorsed violence against trans people.

But, that doesn’t appear to be favorable enough for transgender author Gretchen Felker-Martin, who recently signed a letter denouncing the New York Times’ coverage of transgender issues.

J.K. Rowling gets death threats from Transgender Author

J.K. Rowling has become an incredibly divisive figure since entering politics and writing about transgender people in her Harry Potter books and in real life. But it is not as simple as it seems, as Gretchen Felker-Martin tweeted out extremely ominous and unsettling messages against Rowling.

Felker-Martin accused several authors, including the author of the Harry Potter series, of transphobia in a tweet she sent out on February 12. According to The Daily Mail, the transgender author tweeted in response to the stabbing death of a trans teen that “there is blood on Rowling’s hands and that Rowling and others are killing ours.”

However, she didn’t end there. “If they all had one throat, man,” she tweeted in response. Simply put, the continuation can only be interpreted as a direct threat to slit Rowling’s throat because there is no other rational interpretation.

Since Rowling believes that women are women, a different author is now implying that she should be killed. We must reiterate that the well-known Harry Potter author has never supported violence or hatred against transgenders.

J.K. Rowling continues to face vicious attacks

In the past two years, woke activists have compared one of the best-known British authors of all time, J.K. Rowling, to her own creation, Voldemort. She has received thousands of death threats on social media; numerous calls to publicly burn her books, and repeated attempts to “cancel” her. In addition, she has even joked that she has so many death threats that she could now cover her walls with them.

According to Twitter’s policy statement from March 2019, “you may not threaten violence against an individual or a group of people. We also prohibit the glorification of violence.”

Twitter adds that healthy conversation is only possible when people feel safe from harassment and refrain from using abusive language. “For this reason, we have a policy against threatening violence on Twitter.”

No statement has been released by Pottermore Publishing (Rowling’s publishing company). Also, the publisher of Gretchen Felker-Martin declined to comment.
