“There’s no other choice”: Meghan Markle Was Forced to Leave Royal Family, Prince Harry Defends His Wife
Meghan Markle, 41, and Prince Harry, 37, decided to step back from their roles as senior members of the royal family on January 8, 2020, when they announced this decision on their Instagram. However, it is not accurate to say that Meghan Markle was forced to leave the royal family. The former actress and the Prince have spoken publicly about their stepping back, citing the intense media scrutiny and lack of privacy they faced as royals.
They have also discussed wanting to create a more independent life for themselves and their family. Prince Harry and Markle announced that they will divide their time between the UK and North.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were asked to leave their U.K. home
Several reports in the British press said that King Charles wanted to take Frogmore Cottage, their house on the grounds of Windsor Castle, back from the couple. Originally a gift from Queen Elizabeth in 2019, the couple continued to use it as a U.K. base even after they quit their royal roles and moved to the United States in 2020.
King Charles III offered the cottage to one of his brothers, Prince Andrew, 63, whose royal titles were stripped due to that allegations that he was involved in an underage s*x abuse scandal, alongside Jeffrey Epstein, 66.
As part of this decision, they were asked to leave their home at Frogmore Cottage, which was renovated with taxpayers’ money last year. They will repay the money spent on the renovation and continue to pay rent on the property.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had no other choice but to leave
Prince Harry has stated that the intense media scrutiny and intrusion into their personal lives had become a major everyday problem for them and that Meghan Markle faced particular difficulties as a person of mixed race. He also suggested that the couple had received little support from the royal family in dealing with these challenges leading them to feel that they had “no other choice” but to leave the UK. Royal expert, Tom Bower said,
“She wanted the label, she wanted the title, she wanted the money – she didn’t get so much money – but she did get the status. And now she’s set on building herself up in America.”
Since moving to California, the couple is settled in now with their two young children. In an interview, Markle mentioned the presence of “racism” within the royal family and the Prince said that King Charles III had stopped taking his calls.
