Batman actor Ben Affleck and global pop star Jennifer Lopez may not have had a fairy tale love story but they have repeatedly found their way back to each other. After a brief romance in the 2000s which even culminated in a proposal and eventual marriage, they broke up soon after. Affleck and Lopez got back together in 2021 and subsequently tied the knot.
It all felt like they were meant to be together, and that’s why fate brought them together. However, tensions are rising again between the couple as recent public appearances hint at a troubling outcome. Affleck did not attend the prestigious Met Gala event with Lopez who served as co-chair for the event.
While many believed this was because the actor was busy shooting for a movie, it was apparently because Affleck had moved out of their home and asked for a divorce. An insider spoke to InTouch and claimed,
“The writing is on the wall – it’s over. They’re headed for a divorce – and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame! He’s focusing on his work and his kids now. Ben already moved out and they’ll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for. They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him, and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted.”
This doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise for their fans since Affleck often seemed annoyed and disgruntled in Lopez’s presence. No matter how much they love each other, it is impossible for a couple to work if they are intrinsically different and incompatible. Selling their dream home must be a very tough decision, but one they had to ultimately make and move on. Neither Affleck nor Lopez or their representatives have confirmed this claim so we’ll have to take it with a pinch of salt.
Possible Reason Behind Their Split
The base cause behind their split has been their different approach to handling media attention. While Affleck likes to keep his life private and maintain a mysterious aura, Lopez revels in the spotlight and loves sharing snippets of her life with her fans and the public. Even while making The Greatest Love Story Never Told, Affleck preferred not to share their story, but Lopez insisted and the actor finally conceded because he did not want to stifle the pop star.
Affleck did not want a relationship on social media and instead wanted to enjoy real life. Even on red carpet events and premieres, Lopez loved getting pictures clicked whereas Affleck disliked the attention. This is perhaps the reason why Affleck and Lopez have finally decided to call it quits and live the life they want to.
