Hammer’s career looked bright and successful, but in 2021 it went downhill after multiple women came forward with claims of abuse against the actor. The actor will appear in the upcoming movie Frontier Crucible, but ahead of that, he clarifies his stance on the allegations and the texts related to his cannibal controversy.

Armie Hammer explains the real truth behind the ‘I am 100% cannibal’ texts

Actor Armie Hammer, who was looking forward to having a successful career, was suddenly dropped from various projects in 2021. The decision was taken in the wake of s**ual and emotional abuse allegations, including a s**ual assault investigation. An anonymous Instagram account published screenshots of s**ually charged text messages from Hammer to various women.

The actor denied the validity of the text messages; however, they were just the tip of the iceberg as his ex-girlfriend Efrosina Angelove came forward as the owner of the IG account and accused the actor of r**ing her in 2017 (via THR). Paige Lorenzo claimed that Hammer had branded her, purposefully left her covered in bruises, and spoke about consuming her. Armie Hammer’s legal team denied the allegations and mentioned that all the interactions with any of his partners were consensual as they were discussed, agreed upon, and mutually participatory.

An investigation was launched in March 2021 to investigate the accusations and was concluded in December. In 2023, the LA County District Attorney, citing insufficient evidence, declined to indict Hammer. (via Variety) The allegations had also been featured in the 2022 mini docuseries House of Hammer.

Now, in his appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, Armie Hammer reveals the real truth behind the text messages. He said,

I think the most important context to give these kinds of things is that they are one side of the conversation. As you’ll notice, all of the text messages that were released—the person who released them, their side were cut out of the entire conversation.

Hammer made a point that the text messages that were revealed looked like he was just rambling to himself, and there is no response in any of the excerpts. He also mentioned that the conversation that was taken out of context could have been a very funny one between two people who were joking and pushing each other and egging each other on.

The actor also goes on to deny that he is a cannibal because for being that, one has to eat human flesh, and he hasn’t. He stated that the entire conversation arose simply from a s**ual discussion.

Armie Hammer admits to cutting a heart out of a living animal

During the conversation, Hammer denied all the allegations and clarified the texts that were shared, but one text that he sent he admits was true.

I’ve cut the heart out of a living animal before and eaten it while still warm.

The actor noted that while hunting with friends, he had cut a heart out of a living animal. He said one has to take a bit out of the heart, and when the friends are all around, it feels like almost an overly charged male rite of passage. Armie Hammer also clarified that he cheated on his wife with Effie, noting he had never cheated before that.

Talking about the woman who had accused him of r**e and physical abuse, Hammer said,

She is a person who is not well. This is a person who everybody, without choosing to vet or choosing to sort of critically examine, said, Yep, this all must be true. Armie must be a cannibal r**ist.

Hammer is focused on building his career back again and is very happy being single. He noted that the accusations and the things he had heard/read about him killed off his ego, and he had spent three years having to change and examine himself.

Armie Hammer lastly mentioned that he learned how to love himself and with a sense of distance, this was the best thing that happened to him.
