“They changed my love life completely”: Rebel Wilson Realized She Was Into Women After On-Screen Kiss, Came Out Openly as Gay in June
Love comes in all forms. You never know how it is going to make its way into your life, it just does. Rebel Wilson found it out this year itself. With the onset of this Pride Month, the month hallmarked for honoring LGBT+ people, she revealed to the world her sexual orientation. Fans were elated to watch the star come out of the closet. And now, after all these months have passed, she is going public with what events led to her making that decision. It was during the course of her work, that she learned to embrace her sexuality.
How Rebel Wilson found love
Rebel Wilson went public with the news of her sexual orientation on Instagram, as she shared a picture of herself with her new partner, Ramona Agruma. She captioned the post, “I thought I was looking for a Disney prince…. but maybe what I really needed all along was a Disney princess. #loveislove”
The Hustle star has finally found the person of her dreams, even though it is not what she had expected at first. But that didn’t matter to her anymore. After all, what she had captioned was true. Love is love. It took her quite some time, and a lot of experience to realize this. She recently opened up about what events led her to explore the possibility of dating women.
Rebel Wilson had to kiss a female co-star
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Senior Year actor opened up about how her life changed on its head after she shot The Almond and The Seahorse. The 42-year-old had the chance to kiss a female co-star while shooting the film. It was her kiss with Charlotte Gainsbourg that opened her mind up.
She said in the interview, “I’d never kissed a woman before, so I thought, ‘Oh my God, how is that going to go.'” What would come as a surprise to a lot of people is that it was The Pitch Perfect 2 star that came up with the plan of making out with a person of the same sex. She had no idea how it would feel. She hadn’t done so before. But she didn’t regret doing it.
Couldn’t be more thankful for the two experiences that shaped her
Speaking in the interview about the thought process behind the kiss, Wilson said,
“I don’t know why I said it, but I felt it could work. I’d had a relationship with a woman before, not a sexual relationship and we hadn’t kissed or anything. But then the kissing thing with Charlotte came up. I didn’t think it was that big of a deal or anything.”
She later added,
“If I hadn’t had the experience with Charlotte or the experience with the other woman, I don’t know if I would have met Ramona. Those experiences opened my heart to that possibility. I’m grateful for those two experiences. They changed my love life completely.”
And that is how Rebel Wilson found love, and herself. Love is love, indeed.
