Actor Mark Hamill is most known for portraying Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, beginning in 1977 when Star Wars had a different fan base and the actor experienced great and unexpected success as a result. The Star Wars film series has always had a profound effect on both business and the general public.

For a radio dramatization of both Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, the actor repeated his performance as Luke Skywalker. He is also well-known for portraying Joker in several DC Comics productions, beginning with 1992’s Batman: The Animated Series. Hamill disagrees with the perspective of the CGI film developers to make the appearance of the actors look young.

Mark Hamill comments ‘there are so many stories to tell’ in Star Wars franchise

The actor Mark Hamill, who is celebrated for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker from Star Wars, recently shared during an interview with CBS News’ Sunday Morning that he does not see himself reprising the character anymore.

He added, “Well, you never say never, but I just don’t see any reason to. Let me put it that way: I mean, they have so many stories to tell, they don’t need Luke anymore. I had my time, and that was good. But that’s enough.”

Hamill returned to play Luke Skywalker in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens and was also a key character in 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but his character dies in the end only for him to return as a ghost in 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. He has also played a younger version of the character in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett via motion capture and de-aging visual effects.

He mentioned during an interview with Esquire Magazine that when he read the script for The Last Jedi he thought his character’s time was up and then the process of disengaging from something that has been a part of one’s life started.

It was reported that the actor created a distance from the franchise after his character was killed in The Last Jedi due to creative disagreement, but he did reprise the character in The Mandalorian.

The actor shared that the reason he decided to reprise or come back to play a younger version of his character in The Mandalorian is only because he was very impressed with the idea of it but when he saw the actual results of his face being de-aged he found it very unusual.

He also noted that after people saw his character’s de-aged version on-screen they assumed and apparently told him that now he could play a whole series of Luke post- Return of Jedi, but Hamill is no longer interested. He mentioned, “‘I don’t think so’. First of all, they don’t need to tell those stories, but if they do, they could get an age-appropriate actor.” The veteran actor noted that Luke Skywalker has three things; a beginning, a middle, and an end.
