“They just dogged you infront of everyone”: Kim Kardashian’s Ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson Was Deeply Hurt After SNL Mocked His Personal Life
Comedian Pete Davidson is undoubtedly one of the best comedians of this generation. He is well-known for his dark humor and the ability to address topics like mental illness and drug use in his stand-up comedy without making people uncomfortable. Davidson started as a comedian but eventually starred in multiple hits like Big Time Adolescence, The King of Staten Island, and Bodies Bodies Bodies.
The comedian became a household name after he became a cast member on the popular television show Saturday Night Live (SNL) in 2014. However, Davidson believes that when he was on the show he was unsure “if he is the joke or if he is in on the joke.” The comedian felt like people made jokes out of him and put him down.
Pete Davidson is not a fan of jokes that are about his love life
Comedian Pete Davidson recently appeared on the Real Ones podcast and got candid about the time when he was part of Saturday Night Live. The comedian hates it when people make jokes about his personal life, especially his love life,
“In 12 years, I’ve dated 10 people. I don’t think that’s that crazy, but to some people, that’s very interesting. That became all anyone would talk about. Suddenly you’re in this zeitgeist and that has nothing to do with the work and that’s a really expletive feeling. I became more known before the work was there, but I was always working.”
The comedian dating history is something that people are really fond of. He is reportedly dating his Bodies Bodies Bodies co-star Chase Sui Wonders as of now but before that, he has dated several celebrities like Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, and Emily Ratajkowski.
The comedian explained that he felt like a “loser“
Pete Davidson further explained that he hated it when people on SNL made jokes about him. People around him, who were supposed to be his friends, used to partake in-jokes that attacked his personal life,
“When your own show [pokes fun at you], I’d be sitting in the back watching the cold open and — the cold open [is] topical, political humor, whatever’s in the culture. And then, making fun of you. Then you’ve gotta walk out and do a sketch next and hit your mark and the show just made fun of you. So, why are they gonna laugh at you? Like, they just dogged you in front of everyone…And you’re like, ‘I’m a expletive loser, man.'”
Pete Davidson’s relationship with socialite Kim Kardashian attracted much attention from the media. The two started dating in October 2021 but ended their relationship in August 2022. Then after that, he started dating model Emily Ratajkowski, and jokes about him being able to date women “out of his league” went viral on social media.
Pete Davidson owes his life to Lorne Michaels
Later in the podcast, the comedian said he is really grateful to have Lorne Michaels, the creator of SNL. While everyone made him feel insignificant, Lorne always looked out for him,
“These are the people I’ve been with for almost a decade. I grew up in front of these people. They’ve watched me through the most difficult time in my life, and they’ve been there for me. And nobody ever showed more leeway and grace to me than Lorne Michaels, and I owe my life to that guy, but it was expletive confusing cause the nature of entertainment is the nature of this business. At the end of the day, that’s what it is. This was a really difficult thing to do. You feel small. You feel super insecure.”
Pete Davidson joined Saturday Night Live back in 2014 when he was just 20. As he grew up, he became a recognizable face on the show. However, after eight seasons, the comedian decided to quit the show in 2022.
