“This time I absolutely had a little PTSD”: Jennifer Lopez Confesses She Was Under a Lot of Stress After First Marriage With Ben Affleck Fell Apart
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck claim the rights to quite a marvelous romance storyline – their own love story that is. The couple were all set to tie the knot almost 2 decades ago but called it off days before the wedding. And while they still managed to find their way back to each other after 20 years apart, the return wasn’t apparently as smooth as their fans believed. After breaking off their engagement, the two went on to get married to different people and have a family. And the time apart left some fear in JLo’s mind.
Jennifer Lopez’s peculiar claim to PTSD
Jennifer Lopez was recently a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote her latest film, Shotgun Wedding. It was there that she shared details of the time leading up to her wedding with Ben Affleck.
“We were planning to get married in August in Savannah [Georgia]. And it was so stressful. And a month before… and I don’t know if you guys know this, but 20 years ago we were supposed to get married and it all kind of fell apart back then and this time we, I absolutely had a little PTSD.”
The Hustlers star shared details of her first engagement with the Argo star that lasted from 20o2 to 2004. Then moving on to her 2022 engagement, she said,
“We were so happy and, of course, it was happening, but the wedding was so stressful… One day, Ben just said, ‘F–k it, let’s just go to Vegas and get married tonight’… He said, ‘Go to rehearsal. When you get back here, I’ll have everything set up.’”
So now we know that the couple’s sin city elopement was the groom’s idea.
Jennifer Lopez had Ben Affleck down on his knees again
The couple tied the knot for the first time in Las Vegas at A Little White Wedding Chapel. Lopez defined it, saying, “It was amazing, it was the best night of our lives.” They went on to have a formal ceremony a month later, with friends and family in Georgia.
About the Gone Girl star’s second proposal which happened in a bathtub, the 53-year-old said,
“He had to ask me again. I didn’t have that [ring] anymore.”
Affleck had originally proposed with a pink diamond ring, but this time he went for a rarer green diamond.
Kimmel further asked the On the Floor singer about her opinion on her couple portmanteau term, Bennifer. The mother of two claimed that the word has grown on her over the years. She claimed,
“Actually it wasn’t a bad thing even years ago but I think it became a thing where people made fun of it.”
‘Bennifer’ reunited in 2021, after Lopez broke off her engagement with Alex Rodriguez. They tied the knot in 2022.
