The first Wonder Woman was released in June 2017, as it took place in 1918 at the height of World War I. It narrates Diana’s origin story, from her upbringing as an Amazonian princess on the island of Themyscira through her trip into the outer world during World War I. She realizes her actual abilities as Wonder Woman and transforms into a symbol of hope fighting to put an end to the war and bring back peace. The film was a critical and commercial success, receiving praise for its empowering portrayal and captivating performance. In 2020, the debut of Wonder Woman 1984  revealed that Diana still had much to learn about her powers after facing new adversaries during the 1980s and exploring themes of truth and power.

Gadot debuted as Diana Prince in 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Followed by two stand-alone sequels. She also played a prominent role in Justice League and was also a part of the recently released Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash.
