Thor: Love and Thunder May Solve MCU’s Biggest Phase Mystery
The Marvel Cinematic Universe will be brimming with various sequels this year. These projects are set to feature some really massive events in the grand scheme of events, that will make a lot of significant impacts on the future of the entire franchise. One such intriguing project amongst all these is certainly Thor: Love and Thunder. This film will be marking the first time a Marvel hero will get his fourth solo outing. There are many different things that are going to unfold in this much-anticipated film and one of the most exciting amongst all is the fact that it will be marking the debut of an essential villain, played by Tom Cruise.
Thor 4 will be seeing Gorr the God Butcher making his debut in the franchise with Batman star Christian Bale taking on the character. Gorr might give us some insights into this massive MCU mystery.
The previous Thor films have successfully introduced us to some major mythological characters associated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It won’t be very surprising for us to see some of these entities appearing in Thor: Love and Thunder. After a few huge losses that the Thor franchise has suffered over the years since Ragnarok, we might get to see the God of Thunder establishing the New Asgard. Thereby, we will see some major Asgardian characters returning to the franchise as we last saw them before Taika Waititi’s Ragnarok. One more really interesting character who will make an appearance is the father of Hercules, Zeus, and well, also the leader of the Greek pantheon of Gods. Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe has been currently cast in this role.
Considering that the villainous Gorr the God Butcher, will be playing a huge role in the film, Marvel fans are already associating him with the mighty Zeus. This could eventually mean that might be more victims of Gorr who might end up appearing as a part of his story. After taking out someone like Hela and Thanos, we will witness Thor facing Gorr the God, Butcher. If we go by the comic book material, Gorr is actually an alien who travels the galaxy, as an oath he took so that he could kill the Gods of the pantheons. This is quite an important element of the whole narrative where the character has already suffered a lot and has finally decided to avenge his suffering by taking the lives of the gods who didn’t come to his help.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1 introduces us to a lot of outer-worldly things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It gave us some insight into things that did end up becoming really significant in the future of the entire franchise. One given scene showed the Collector giving the Guardians an idea about the Infinity Stones. Now during this scene, a brief overview of the Celestials is given and how they were quite essential parts of the history of MCU. The Collector also stated that there is no longer a concern about them in the present day. This came by the Collector’s base of operations, a place Infinity War fans would remember as Knowhere, which is actually the head of a fallen Celestial.
We saw these Celestials in Eternals and we know that they still exist. However, it looks like their population may have earlier experienced the same low. Many Marvel fans have been thinking about how a major past event like that could be associated with this. Another theory suggests that Gorr could be the one who lead to this loss in the number of Celestials in the universe. The Celestials are usually referred to as “The Space Gods” and this fits as someone Gorr might wanna kill. Gorr may have used his trademark weapon, the Necrosword to end these Gods.
