“Those feelings for me were very real”: Jennifer Lopez Confesses She Never Moved On from Ben Affleck Despite Dating Alex Rodriguez for Years
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are now finally living the life they had once hoped for in the early 2000s. The couple had a long history together and nearly wed in 2004, however, their plans were interrupted and they ended up leaving each other. But now that the duo is reunited, the former has explained her rekindled love story in the new issue of Vogue.
Though the 53-year-old diva expressed her opinions on the topic she was a subject of during her fresh wedding, she also expressed her views on the old days claiming that her love for the Batman actor was real even back then. Even though it’s no secret that she was previously engaged to Alex Rodriguez before settling down with Affleck.
Jennifer Lopez Shares Her Opinions on Taking Ben Affleck’s Last Name
The couple, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez first met each other on the sets of Gigli with the couple getting engaged in 2002 after dating for a while. The couple however called off their engagement in 2004, just a couple of days before they were about to exchange their vows.
Their romance rekindled last year with the couple getting married in July this year. She explained that she will be proud to take on the last name of her husband.
“People are still going to call me Jennifer Lopez. But my legal name will be Mrs. Affleck because we’re joined together. We’re husband and wife. I’m proud of that,” she stated.
She continued, “I don’t think that’s a problem… It’s not traditional. It doesn’t have any romance to it. It feels like it’s a power move, you know what I mean?”
She also opened up about feeling empowered stating,
“I’m very much in control of my own life and destiny and feel empowered as a woman and as a person. I can understand that people have their feelings about it, and that’s okay, too.”
However, her opinions on the same would be kinda romantic. She said, “But if you want to know how I feel about it, I just feel like it’s romantic. It still carries tradition and romance to me, and maybe I’m just that kind of girl.”
She also talked about her feelings after rekindling her romance with the Gone Girl star when the pair formerly had a failed engagement.
Jennifer Lopez Always Had Feelings for Ben Affleck
The mother of two further expressed her emotions which she kept closed for years. She expressed what importance the 50-year-old actor holds in her heart. She shared,
“I always felt like there was a real love there, a true love there.” She continued, “People in my life know that he was a very, very special person in my life. When we reconnected, those feelings for me were still very real.”
JLo further added, “Sometimes you outgrow each other, or you just grow differently. The two of us, we lost each other and found each other.”
After the couple split up in 2004, Affleck married Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares three children. The couple got divorced in 2018. JLo on the other hand married Marc Anthony, but they split up in 2014.
The singer got romantically involved with Alex Rodriguez in 2017 and their relationship escalated fast. The businessman proposed to the mother of two on the beach in 2019. Their wedding was reportedly sparked, however, got delayed due to the COVID Pandemic.
In 2021, news broke that the pair had officially called off their engagement. The Bennifer saga began after a while, with the couple reuniting this year by exchanging vows twice.
