Timothée Chalamet’s Dune 2 Co-Star Instantly Regretted Following Ryan Gosling’s Disgusting Microwaved Doughnut Juice Recipe
Austin Butler, actor who will soon be seen in the Dune 2 movie with Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, is well recognized for his dedication to the roles he plays on screen. His portrayal in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis is a living example of this.
However, occasionally an actor’s method of acting commitment for a role might be excessive, making it difficult for them to recuperate. Although Austin Butler’s dedication to portraying Elvis accurately on TV is well known, there is one thing that he did throughout the process, which seems a little too extreme. Let’s find out what that is.
Ryan Gosling inspired Timothée Chalamet’s co-star Austin Butler for Elvis’ transformation
Austin Butler was highly praised for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis and at the same time it was known that the actor had committed himself to playing the iconic singer on-screen. Butler was committed to a point where he not only changed his accent to match Elvis’ but also decided to gain weight, as his agent had informed him that he would have to gain weight to play the singer’s older version.
During an interview with Variety back in February, Butler discussed the weird way he thought he could gain weight. He said,
“I heard that Ryan Gosling when he was going to do ‘The Lovely Bones’, he used to microwave the Häagen-Dazs’ ice- cream and drink it. So I started doing that. I would go get two dozen doughnuts and eat them all. I really started to pack on some pounds. It’s fun for a week and then you feel awful about yourself.”
The actor continued that they were planning on shooting chronologically in the beginning and that quickly went out the window when COVID entered the picture, adding that it was impossible.
Talking about his commitment, Butler’s Elvis voice became the talk of the town and on his appearance on The Graham Norton Show, he said, “I am getting rid of the accent, but I have probably damaged my vocal cords with all that singing. One song took 40 takes.”
Austin Butler did not want to lose the momentum for Elvis
During the Variety interview, Butler had revealed that Luhrmann told him that he needed to go back to the States because the pandemic halted their filming and no one had any idea what they would start shooting. But the actor didn’t want to lose any momentum he had going for the movie, so he decided to stay.
He said, “I’m not gonna go back. So it meant I had to rent an apartment myself because all the corporate cards got shut down. They couldn’t even pay for my apartment. I said I’m just going to move to Australia because I knew that if I came back here, I’d lose the momentum that I had.”
The actor was highly praised for being close to the iconic singer and he had the support of Elvis Presley’s family backing him up, who kept saying that he seemed like a perfect person to play the singer.
Austin Butler will appear as Feyd-Rautha in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune 2 and will play Dave Bautista’s younger brother, who said that Butler is the sweetest guy a person could ever meet.
“Everything about his demeanor is terrifying”: Dave Bautista on Austin Butler in Dune 2
Dave Bautista who plays Rabban Harkonnen in Timothée Chalamet starrer Dune is excited to reprise the character once again, stating that there are a lot more layers for the audience to see in him.
Bautista shared during an interview with USA Today that Butler was so focused on performing his best as Feyd-Rautha. He said,
“I don’t know who this guy was, but it’s not Austin Butler. It’s not Elvis. His voice is different, his appearance is different. Everything about his demeanor is terrifying.”
Butler’s co-star Stephen McKinley Henderson also praised the actor by stating that his performance in Dune 2 is chilling to watch, adding that he is such a wonderful person.
