Recently Christopher McQuarrie who is the director of the movie opened up about the difficulties the team of Mission Impossible went through to complete the film. He revealed many interesting facts about Cruise and the upcoming movie in an interview.
The movie is all set to release on the big screen on 13 July 2023. For a very long time, fans have been waiting to see Cruise back as Ethan Hunt.
Christopher McQuarrie praised Tom Cruise for his Work Ethic and patience
When the filming for Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One began in 2020, the pandemic has just started. The team was in Italy and they were supposed to shoot in many other locations like England, Dubai, and Norway. McQuarrie said,
“We were in Venice, Italy, two days away from shooting in February 2020. We were at ground zero for the pandemic.”
McQuarrie also revealed who is replacing Nicholas Hoult in the film. Hoult was originally cast in the negative part of the film, but owing to other commitments, he was replaced by Esai Morales. The director also praised Tom Cruise for his work ethic and the way he stayed calm throughout the filming of the movie.
The director also mentioned how the female lead of the film Hayley Atwell didn’t have a dialogue for 100 days after the filming began. He said, “
“Hayley might have been on this movie for well over 100 days before she had her first dialog scene, owing to the chaotic nature of the production.”
McQuarrie described the whole filming experience for Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One as a chaotic experience.
Tom Cruise performed intense stunts in the film
Despite the fact that the Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One crew had numerous problems while filming, the director stated that he never questioned if the film would be incomplete. He was assured that if Cruise is a part of the film he will complete the filming anyhow, McQuarrie said,
“When you’re making a movie with Tom, that’s not really a factor. And on these movies, we like to say, ‘Disaster is an opportunity to excel.’ We lean into the chaos. We don’t invite it, but we accept it as part of the process.”
He further said,
“This has been the most unbelievable adventure and the most unbelievable continuum between, in some state or another, working on ‘Top Gun,’ ‘Mission 7,’ and ‘Mission 8,’ all simultaneously.”
When the director was asked about Cruise’s action sequence in the movie he said there are many stunts the 60-year-old actor did on his own. Just like in his previous Mission Impossible movies, Cruise will be seen speeding a motorcycle off a cliff and jumping into a ravine.
