Hanks recently reflected on some of his career accomplishments, including A League of Their Own, Cast Away, and Cloud Atlas, as his favorites. With the recent release of Eternals, the MCU has entered Phase 4 post-Avengers: Endgame. The most recent film introduced the immortal squad that has been looking over the universe. Phase 4 has also introduced the multiverse’s continuous narrative in the Disney+ series Loki, which is set to pick up more steam in the next Spider-Man: No Way Home. As always, there’s a lot of conjecture regarding the MCU’s future and prospective casting choices.

During an interview on the SmartLess Podcast (via The Direct), which was hosted by actors Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes, Hanks was asked whether he would be interested in working on a Marvel movie. The cinema star responded, perhaps unexpectedly, that he had never been given a role in the mega-franchise, claiming that the company had not sought him out. Hanks joked that if he were cast in the series, it would most likely not be as a powerful role, saying:
“Here’s the problem… First of all, they’ve never called me once. Nope, never. And I think that if one of these days they will, they’d say, ‘Is there any way you’d consider playing a secretary of defense?’ (laughs) Ya know, a guy who comes and says, ‘Please, help us Ultraman, we can’t survive!’ I’d be one of those guys. I don’t get to play the punk…”

It’s possible that Hanks may make an appearance in a future Marvel film.
