Tom Holland Adresses Concerns Around Spider-Man 4 After Deadpool 3 and Daredevil Show Faces Major Setbacks Due to WGA Strike
Tom Holland recently provided an update on the progress of his upcoming fourth Spider-Man film. Holland has so far appeared as the adored superhero in six installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and three separate Spider-Man movies. Since these movies received positive reviews and did well financially, there are obviously very high hopes for the fourth one. Additionally, producer Amy Pascal told Variety that work on the sequel to 2019’s hugely successful Spider-Man: No Way Home has been put on hold while the WGA strike is still going on.
Tom Holland Says Spider-Man 4 Now On Pause
Spider-Man 4 is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and while the industry works through the difficulties of the writers’ strike, the excitement keeps growing.
Tom Holland, who plays the lead role in the Spider-Man franchise, has added his voice to that of Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal who previously stated that the fourth Spider-Man movie is experiencing delays because of the ongoing writers’ strike in the United States.
Spider-Man 4 with Tom Holland as the lead actor is undoubtedly in the works, but the endeavor has been put on hold because of the writers’ strike, according to producer Amy Pascal.
Holland informed the worldwide media that some “conversations have been put on hold” as a result of the strike while promoting his new performance The Crowded Room.
“I can’t talk about that, but I can say that we have been having meetings. We’ve put the meetings on pause in solidarity with the writers,” Holland said. “There’s been multiple conversations had, but at this point, it’s very, very early stages.”
Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman had before joked that he would have to murder you if he revealed the fate of Tom Holland’s adored web-slinger. Fans are left wondering what will happen to the venerable superhero in forthcoming episodes after this intriguing statement.
Pascal responded immediately when questioned about Holland’s potential as the web-slinger, “Are we going to create another movie? We are, of course.” Pascal emphasizes that despite the writers’ strike, which prevents anyone from working, “We’re in the process. We’re all giving them our support, and once they start working things out, we’ll start.”
How Marvel Movies Are Getting Affected By The WGA Strike
The efforts of other studios, besides just Marvel, have also been hampered by the writers’ strike. In the early phases of the strike, TV shows have been more negatively impacted than movies, according to Deadline, with Late-night talk shows among the most prominent early casualties.
The most crucial thing to remember at this time is that writers are getting paid fairly for their work, but it is also important to remember that many MCU movies (and series) are now in production and that a strike would cause significant production delays for Marvel Studios and Disney.
Thunderbolts, Blade, Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars are some of the ongoing MCU projects which are getting affected by WGA Strike.
Sony Pictures has stated that a fourth Spider-Man film is a “top priority,” which is not surprising given that Spider-Man: No Way Home made over $1.9 billion at the global box office. But they’ll just have to be patient, just like audiences.
If you’re unaware, the Writers Guild of America recently entered a strike after failing to reach an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). A rise in wages and residuals (including pay and residuals for shows on streaming platforms) is among the guild’s requests, along with the regulation of AI.
Given the current state of the scenario, it is feasible that those projects without written, completely developed scripts would suffer a substantial setback and be delayed by at least a year, if not longer.
