Tom Holland Betrays Tobey Maguire? Shrugs Off His Spider-Man Trilogy: “The best Spider-Man movie that has ever been made”
The fact that Tom Holland also gave us a truly fantastic Spider-Man incarnation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for both new and old Spider-fans to enjoy is proof that the Spider-Man brand will hardly ever fade. Some of us grew up watching Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in their respective Spider-Man franchises, and we still have those movies in our memory. Tom Holland, the live-action Spider-Man, has appeared in three standalone Spider-Man movies as well as MCU blockbusters like Infinity War and Endgame, but he’s not present in his preferred on-screen interpretation of the venerable web-slinger.
Tom Holland Reveals His Favorite Spider-Man Movie!
There are numerous Spider-Man films, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, from Sony Pictures Animation, is the newest to hit theaters. Of course, Tom Holland plays Spider-Man in the live-action movies. He just shared his favorite movie from the series with the Associated Press. In an interview with the AP, Holland revealed that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is his preferred Spider-Man flick.
“I think the first ‘Spider-Verse’ movie is the best ‘Spider-Man’ movie that’s ever been made. I am so proud of everyone involved. Amy Pascal is like my mum. I was supposed to go with her as her date. I couldn’t go, because I’m here, working. But, I’m incredibly proud of them. I’m excited for the second one. I’m sure it will live up to every expectation and I can’t wait to see it.”
The actor, 27, began working in the early 2010s and gained international notoriety in 2016 when he made his Spider-Man debut in Captain America: Civil War. Since then, he has appeared in three Spider-Man films as well as two Avengers films.
In addition to becoming the highest-grossing Spider-Man film ever made, Holland’s most recent Spider-Man film also became one of the highest-grossing films ever created when it was released in 2021.
Tom Holland Gives An Update on Spider-Man 4 Development
The fourth chapter of the Spider-Man franchise has been discussed in meetings, according to actor Tom Holland, but further development has been put on hold out of “solidarity with the writers” strike.
“I can’t talk about that, but I can say that we have been having meetings. We’ve put the meetings on pause in solidarity with the writers,” Holland said. “There’s been multiple conversations had, but at this point it’s very, very early stages.”
Holland concurred with what Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal said to Variety on Wednesday evening at the premiere of another film set in the Spidey universe, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
“Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are,” Pascal said. “We’re in the process, but with the writers’ strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”
Holland has starred as the titular superhero in three Spider-Man movies – Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019), and No Way Home (2021).
Holland stars in the psychological thriller The Crowded Room as Danny Sullivan, who is arrested for his involvement in a New York City shooting in 1979.
