Tom Holland “Won’t Make” Spider-Man 4 Movie Unless It Protects His MCU Legacy as Spider-Man
Tom Holland is known to have manifested the role of Spider-Man in his career as an actor. A love for the superhero since childhood transformed into Holland’s career-defining role. With three solo movies and three franchise ensemble movies, Holland has been pivotal in driving the latest phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
His Spider-Man is crucial in leading the events of the Multiverse and fans are excited to see how Marvel shapes the upcoming story. The question is whether he will return for a fourth solo movie in the future.
Tom Holland Wants To Protect Spider-Man’s Legacy
Tom Holland understands the widespread love people have for the web-slinging superhero. To this extent, he claims to only make a fourth movie if it adds value to the MCU storyline and takes the hero’s legacy ahead.
“All I can say is that we have been actively engaging in conversations about what it could potentially look like for a fourth rendition of my character. Whether or not we can find a way to do justice to the character is another thing. I feel very protective of Spider-Man. I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie.”
Holland attended the Critics Choice Association where this topic came up.
He further elucidated the importance and value added by the next phase of Spider-Man’s life,
“Which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy. So, I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character.”
Will There Be a Fourth Spider-Man Movie?
Holland’s last appearance in the MCU was in 2021, making it the largest gap between sequels of movies in the MCU. There has been no official confirmation of a fourth Spider-Man movie by the studios. It is said that similar to Holland’s desire to make a worthy movie, Marvel Studios is also working towards finding a script that aligns with their expectations and delights fans all the same.
Expressing his love and gratitude for the character, Holland further said,
“But that said, if we can figure that out, I would be a fool not to put the suit back on again because I owe everything to Spider-Man. I love the character and the people I get to work with. So, I would love to tell another story, but I’ll only tell it if we can find the right one”.
The mid-credits and end-credits scenes of the movie set up the path for the fourth movie perfectly. Fans have been eager to see how Venom blends into the MCU and how Spider-Man lives on now that nobody knows Peter Parker is behind the mask.
