Just feels like yesterday when most of us were excited to see our favorite books getting movie adaptations. And now the 20th-anniversary reunion special is upcoming and all of us are equally excited.

There have been many plot holes in Harry Potter and maybe with the reunion upcoming, fans could get their answers that we have been still wondering about Harry Potter world. Some of them have been explained at a certain point but a few are still confusing and maybe we will finally have some answers

1.  Logic and Magic behind Thestrals!

This was a problem which J.K. Rowling herself had to clarify but the fans were still not content with the answers. Harry Potter saw Cedric die right in front of him at the end of Goblet of Fire but still, Harry couldn’t see Thestrals and all of us wondered why was that?

Luna was seen explaining later that Thestrals are a breed of skeletal, winged horses that could be visible to wizards who have seen death. When his parents died, harry was too young and he was unconscious when Quirrell died. J.K. Rowling said that Cedric’s death was the first death Harry had experienced closely and it naturally takes time for anyone to get over the shock and absorb the fact that they will never see them again.

And this is why Harry started seeing Thestrals in Order of the Phoenix. But Thestrals are not imaginary so how can their existence depend on someone’s consciousness!

2. The Golden Trio’s Food Crisis

As per Gamp’s Law of Elemental Transfiguration, it is possible to identify what can be conjured and what can’t, however, one can not create something from literally nothing. Food is one of those five expectations and Hermione had told Ron that they can summon it if they know where it is, and one can transform it and/ or increase the quantity of something one already has.

But then why did Harry, Hermione, and Ron have such difficulty in finding food when they were on the Horcrux hunt in the Deathly Hallows.  Couldn’t they increase the quantity of the food they already had instead of being miserable?

3.  Why Couldn’t Ministry Use Veritaserum?

Lucius Malfoy was suspected as a Death Eater, in the books as well but however, was never convicted. Lucius Malfoy claimed that he was working for Voldermort since he was under the Imperius Curse, the same reason which was given by many others. But this seems kind of suspicious considering the Ministry could have used Veritaserum to see if they were lying or not.

Considering that Ministry had no issue when Umbridge used it on children, they never used it on Death Eaters and just believed whatever they told them.

4. The Painting Was Inconsistent

J.K. Rowling has made it clear that the living portraits in Harry Potter world are imprints of the dead. This means that they can imitate the basic personality traits but do not have any memories or feelings and can’t be realized as spirits or ghosts.

But if that is the case, how was Dumbledore’s portrait not only able to give not only wisdom but also advice to Snape after his death? And if the portraits are not sentient, how can they show emotions like guilt, annoyance at people they never met when they were alive? This just makes no sense.

5. When The Troll Was In The Dungeons!

This plot hole is extremely funny so it is no surprise that it has been turned into a meme for million times. In the first installment of the series, Quirrel runs into the dining hall and shouts there is a troll in the dungeon and faints. This creates chaos and Dumbledore tells the students to return to their dorms.

As we all know that Slytherin dorm is in the dungeon. So Dumbledore essentially didn’t care about Slytherin and sent them right to the troll. A bit too biased as a headmaster no? We hoping to see at least this plot hole addressed in the reunion if nothing else! Tom Felton coming up with some savage lines for sure.
