One of the most disappointing films of this year so far has to be DCEU’s The Flash starring Ezra Miller as the Scarlet Speedster. The film was hardly able to make back its budget which is around 200-220 million dollars. And apart from the box-office failure, the film also received bad reception for its CGI and VFX works.

Many pointed out that some of the edits appeared incomplete plus adding the fact that Miller is already linked to various problematic issues in the past years, it makes sense why the film bombed at the box office badly.

Miller has got himself into various problematic issues over the past few years and that seemingly had a role to play in the film’s bad reception. Moreover, the editing work has also been disappointing as many pointed out that in the initial scene where Barry Allen/Flash is supposed to be in a state of extreme speed, the VFX work seems to appear incomplete.

The total budget of The Flash is around 200-220 million dollars but it only managed to collect around 260 million dollars worldwide. This is undoubtedly a major box-office failure and is therefore one of the worst flops in all of DCEU’s history so far. It is considered the studio’s fifth-lowest in terms of box-office collection. Other films from the studio that have also performed badly are Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Wonder Woman 1984, etc.

Some Hollywood films that had a similar budget as The Flash and which also bombed badly are Cutthroat Island (1995), Mortal Engines (2018), The 13th Warrior, etc.
