The show became popular among fans. With the news of renewal, fans have been eagerly waiting to know more details about the post-apocalyptic drama. However, concerning news has come up about The Last of Us season 2 amid the Hollywood strikes.
The Hollywood strikes have led to delays in various production. It has halted the entertainment industry. The new season of The Last of Us was already taking shape when the writer’s strike started. However, the screenplay writing was later suspended.
The Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, which is continuing strong, o-creator/executive producer Craig Mazin discussed the potential effects of the Hollywood guild strikes on The Last of Us Season 2’s release date. Mazin indicated that if the strikes continue, they will “inevitably have to push” the release date of the second season.
He said,
“If these strikes go much longer we inevitably will have to push and that hurts us, and it hurts the audience, and it hurts HBO. We all, everybody wants to get back to work; I think everybody that’s actually doing the work, including the network people who are with us on the ground, I think everybody just wants to get this solved. So fingers crossed.”
Work on The Last of Us Season 2 had advanced pretty far before the WGA strike in Hollywood. The showrunner stated they had included new writers. Mazin also revealed that Episode 201 has been written. He said, “We know what the whole season is, and I was actually able to get a write and submit the first episode right before the deadline hit.”
The producer stated when the strike is finished, the team will work diligently to get this show on the air when it’s supposed to be. The supposed air date of The Last of Us Season 2 is said to be sometime in 2025, according to HBO Head of Drama Francesca Orsi.

Pedro Pascal is having a great year as the actor bagged three nominations for three different performances under the drama, narration, and comedy categories in the 2023 Emmys. HBO’s The Last of Us is the first live-action video game adaptation to garner significant awards consideration from a big Hollywood awards body, in television or film. The show received 24 nominations altogether.
For their part in the post-apocalyptic drama series The Last of Us, Pascal and Ramsey both received nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
The show stars The Mandalorian as Joel and Ramsey as Ellie. It traces their story as Joel takes control to escort the 14-year-old Ellie to the United States, who might be humanity’s last hope after a global virus decimates civilization.
