Upsetting News For Zendaya’s Fans Ahead of ‘Euphoria 3’
The ongoing writer’s strike organized by the Writer’s Guild Association has taken a toll on the entertainment industry. From sitcoms being aired on repeat to the delay in the release of upcoming shows and the sequels of the famous series-the US entertainment industry is going through a tough time. Zendaya and Jacob Elordi’s Euphoria’s third season has been postponed.
After the success of Sam Lewinson-directed adolescence drama, HBO provided a major update on the prequel of the show in February 2022. After the premiere of the second season of Euphoria in January 2022, the fans have been desperately waiting for the third season. There had been a few updates on the Euphoria 3, but none of them clearly indicated its release date.
Zendaya’s Euphoria 3 Might Bear The Brunt Of The Writer’s Strike
According to an update provided by Euphoria actor Maude Apatow, the filming of the Zendaya starrer show was supposed to take place in the mid of 2023. One of the reputed media outlets Variety, recently shared that the third season of Sam Lewinson’s show has been postponed due to the strike organized by the Writers Guild of America (WGA). As per the update, it is quite evident that the filming of the prequel of Euphoria would start in 2024.
As the show has a star-studded cast, the production would very much depend on the schedules of Jacob Elordi, Zendaya, and Sydney Sweeney.
With an empathetic storyline and power-packed acting by the stellar cast of Euphoria, the show went on to become an instant hit and even came under the list of the second most watched shows on HBO. Fans around the world can’t wait for the third season of the show. Nothing much has been revealed about the plot of Euphoria 3, but according to the hint provided by the costume designer of the show Heidi Biven, there could be a possibility of a five-year time jump in the plot of the upcoming season of Euphoria.
Zendaya On Playing Rue Benett In Euphoria
The Spider-Man actor Zendaya was critically acclaimed for the portrayal of Rue Benett in Euphoria. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor spoke about the opening scene of the fifth episode of Euphoria season 2. Zendaya mentioned-
“It was a very tough day. I mean, I beat myself up. I still have some scars on my legs, and got quite a few bruises.”
While talking about the compelling writing of the director Sam Lewinson, Zendaya said-
“I think since season one, we knew that Sam had a vision of having an episode like that, where it would just be all on the line, and we would just be going at it, trying to just tell her that she needs help, but it was challenging to film.”
The character of Rue, played by Zendaya is recovering from drug addiction and suffers from bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. The perfect blend of self-destructive qualities with a mix of wisdom makes her one of the most popular characters from the show. During the 2021 Venice Film Festival, spoke about feeling emotionally taxed while playing the character of Rue Benett. She said-
“It was so intense and scary to tackle, and obviously something that would be incredibly emotionally taxing, but also physically taxing. Also, I care about Rue and I hate when she’s in pain. And I think this whole episode, there’s so much pain and it’s bubbling to the surface, and it’s also crossed with her withdrawing, which is extremely physically painful.”
Euphoria was critically acclaimed and as well as slammed for its content. The internet was divided as people supported the show for the reality of mental disorders taking a toll on a child’s development was very well portrayed, but it was criticized for the open use of drugs and as well as provocative scenes in the show.
